Hello again,
having had a rummage around in the footwells, i can't seem to find a 16 pin ODB2 connector, so im guessing i dont have one, and that i will have to wire up an adaptor to use the 3 pin FIAT data connector under the bonnet. trouble is, i dont really know what i'm supposed to be looking for, having looked at the sticky with the component layouts, i see that there is no layout for the 1.9td engine. :(
going off the information from the other engines, i went under the bonnet and i have found a couple of 3 pin connectors with blanking caps, but they both only have 2 wires going to them. am i in the right ball park?
thanks

i did look there but neglected to take a photo for some reason... ive just been out and taken a couple more pitures, it's not there either.
unfortunatly, it seems i've missed out by a year or two, i think the blanked off adapters are the ones i need, i've taken a couple of close up photo's to illustrate the wiring colours. they are both black and red/white.
my adapter is one of these Bluetooth OBDII OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner, Scan tool check Engine Light CAR CODE READER for ELM327: Amazon.fr: High-tech
i hope i have more luck that these guys in this thread. https://www.fiatforum.com/marea/188782-3-pin-ecu-diag-connector-help.html

hi,
some marea doesen't have 16 pin obd
it have's on the left side one 3 pin that is for ecu you need an adaptor from 16 to 3 pin for fiat

It took a while to find the one on my 1.9JTD but there it was under the driver's side footwell; just put your head on the pedals and look up.
The fiat ecuscan software works fine; just get an old laptop eg Thinkpad T30 or similar with a serial port; the serial to usb converters are troublesome; no need to get your nice new android grubby in the garage.......
What trouble are you having with the JTD? See my other posts on this engine

Tim

So why you want to attach an obd reader?
The TD doesn't have electronic injection.
Shutoff-solenoid for the high pressure pump is the engine electrics.
Think about old tractors, but instead of pull-wire going to the injector pump you got a solenoid.
Sensors are for the instrumet cluster.

Injector pulses... you got a mechanical injector pump so nocando (unless you measure the rotation of the piston inside it).
Tuning: turn the screw on the pump until it puts rich black soot everywhere.
No electroinic injection: that thing wont die unless bad mechanical wear or impurities in fuel occour.
Most fragile thing there is the turbo and its piping after the timing belt.
If it had a row pump instead of the splitter type it would go even longer with bad fuel.
