All Fiat engines like to be revved. Except the MK2
I have owned a few Fiats over the year's, and the only one i couldn't kill was a 127 sport with balanced crank and serious head job done by Radbourne Racing. Are they still going??? That engine buried itself in the redline, 7.8k, and we could not kill it.

Yeah these fit across the air temperature sensor and constantly tell the ECU that the air is cold which gives a slight advance on the ignition timing and tells the injectors to spray more fuel but this is cancelled out when the oxygen sensor feeds back to the ECU as obviously the mixture is too rich. The ECU on modern cars will then realise there is a fault within the engine management system and put the Warning Light on! All that hassle for 3 quid, Bargain!
If you want to improve performance fit a quality induction system and make sure it has an unrestricted supply of 'genuine' cold air.

Totaly Agree with you dude!!! Dont be a cheap ass.. spend some love on ya beast!! gives you so much more pleasure driving round knowing that you spent abit of dosh on your car, well thats just me anyway!! And as i seen earlier reading threw this thread, yeah more chavs are buying the MK2 but they make them look soo crap, when us good Punto MK2 MK1 what ever one you have spend the right dosh and dont have chav writen all over them, gives them a good name so keep up the good fight!

sitting there bouncing it off the limter, admitedly not great for it - but the engine knows whats going on, and the ECU is doing its job. fiddle around with changing sensor values and you are effectivly poking the ECU in the eye.

i cant believe people still fall for it, i guess its because they arent half as well known about as they were 10 years ago when almost everyone used them. at least in those days no one tried to sell them as something they werent, it was 20p a resistor and you got told you were buying a resistor, not a "mod chip" or anything like that, not that i actually disagree with taking advantage of fools, thats the nature of business. if you're daft enough to buy you deserve it. at least its not as bad as an ecotek valve, they cost a lot of money for nothing.

The chips are the worst idea in the world. Yeh theyre great for your high performance cars... but come on, my cars a punto. If you just stick the chip in its going to blow the engine. I know people that have had their car chipped and alls it does is damage part by part or even blow the full engine.
And its not just small cars that itll blow. The BMW 3 series of my mates had its engine blown from a chip. It really isnt a good idea!!!

this thread isnt about a chip! its about a resistor being sold as a chip. chips dont blow engines up, not taking propper care of a tuned car blows them upWheeler said:

I know this is a while ago but I just thought I say what sort of problems that can happen...
My IAT sensor was faulty and kinda similar to what this resistor was doing by sending more fuel in. The end result of this in the end was two failed coils (£40 each - perhaps unrealted) and a messed CAT - the extra fuel getting in destroyed it. A new CAT cost around £140 and without realising the real cause of the problem, the CAT and other oponents will also go.

:slayer: yeah but if you think about it not many people do up these punto well not more than corsas and golf and TDI its about making respect with these chaves iv only brought mine for 180 and thats with a side shunt on the side but if people like to do up there can and be proude of it well its sute them and if people call them chaves becouse there car looks good them and there are crap well im in that table as well becouse im doing mine up not beocuse i want to be one of thoes boy racers i just want it so that every time people come up to me in there bmw or corsa and golf with crappy body kits that cost hunders and i can say that iv got a better body kit cost less and still drives bloody GOOD and not to be a chave with two childern in the back and the misses at the side

the chips that go on the air temp sensor richen the engine and give a tiny bit more power but the lambda sesor soon pics this up and remaps the ecu its called active map sensing
althou i have seen some that go on the lambda sensor wich alter it a little but not out of the lambdas range so there will be no warning lights so you may get 2 more hp but at the expence of your lambda sensore burned out with the extra unburnet fuel, burnt out cat, and the extra fuel will wash the bores of oil casing premature engine wear also burnt out exhaust valves if you go to far
the optimum mixture is 1:14.7 why these people think puting any more fuel in will give them more bhp i dont know because their stupid and deserve everything they get
more fuel wont burn without more air end of that

are you guyes talking bout fitting it on to a car with a cat and then running it rich....... if you are thats just stupid making your car run rich when the cats still on and yes all you law freaks i know its ilegal to run your car without a cat but cops cant touch you if you work in a garage and are good mates with the guy that does imisions tests or how eva you spell it. hehe
