Technical  Duologic gearbox problem

Ok. I have run diagnostics, quite a few codes, but how many are new and how many are old I don't know, so photographed them all and googled each one, some have different possible causes but they all have the same causes and solution, bad battery, but it has a new battery, alternator not constant voltage, diagnostic tool says it is fine, and last one bad earth from gearbox to chassis, that's what I will be checking at the weekend.

A lot of the canbus error can be ignored

Google will often send you in the wrong direction

I lot of codes are model specific, so same code on two different car can have totally different meanings

Also the same code can have different meanings depending which module the scan took is integrating

Why not post them so we can help you

Like I said I don't know how many are old or new so deleted them all and at the weekend I will take it for a drive and see what comes back

Sounds like a plan

D711 - NCR / NCA Node on C-CAN

I likely to caused by the scantool itself

Has the car had new parts, or other problems recently

I don't know as only just bought it

Mmmmmm

The codes show the shows the electric power steering also goes off intermittently, but we don't know if it's already been fixed

Does the battery look new, there should be a date code on it

Its quite a list, most codes clear after 10 cycles without the same fault detected

I take it your scantool does live data

Plot the RPM and battery voltage

After the car stood a hour or two, start the car

How far the voltage drops as the cranking starts give a rough indication of the batterys state

It's pretty easy to test the earth lead on the gearbox if you have a multimeter on volts put one end on the engine block the other on the battery negative post. Get someone to crank the car, a newish car is 300mv on the initial start dropping to 200mv as it's cranking. Twice this wouldn't be a problem, you can't reliable tell just by looking at it unless it's obvious.

The battery does look quite new, but I will check it when I get time to get to the car again, as it's a surprise for granddaughter's birthday it is at a friend's property on the other side of town so she doesn't see it, which makes it awkward to get there and do work on it during the week, as I leave home at 4.30 and get back 19.30

I am working on the Panda on Saturday, I have a new earth strap and new battery ( charged to 100%) . I will fit them after checking the actuator fluid level with zero pressure in the system, then take it out for a drive and see what fault codes return !

With the Panda now, brand new battery reading 12.4 volts, when running reading 14.06 volts, depressurised the actuator, checked level, was low so topped it up to just below green line, took it for a drive, drives beautifully for about 10 minutes of up and down through the gearbox then stops changing up, checked fault codes, brake light switch intermittent, I have a new one at home so will change it tomorrow!

What fault code did you now have?
Be aware that some replacement brake light switches are rubbish - I had two new copy ones that were faulty. OEM part resolved my issue.

Not sure what make this is but pretty sure it's not genuine fiat, I will give it a go and see what happens

I am tempted to give up and just scrap the car, but it is meant to be a 17th birthday present for my granddaughter on 10th June, not a hope in hell of sorting it by then, it's now coming up with intermittent alternator fault, have not looked at the brake pedal switch yet, really lost all enthusiasm to even go and do anything on it !

Don't give up just yet.
From your posts it appears now the only gearbox code you are getting is brake light switch you may be close to fix.
