Dump valves

Hy guys what can do to increase the turbo boost without chipping?? Will a dump valve make any difference without chipping it? Dont want to compromise the smooth ride, heard chips can have quite a few issues..

a dump valve won't increase power, when you let your foot off the loud pedal the air in the induction side stops and comes back to the turbo "potentially" stalling the turbo and loosing boost, a dump valve releses the extra pressure making sure you still have boost.

EDIT: when you say chips do you mean a chip or remap? there's nothing wrong with remaps and turning the boost up slightly as long as the turbo can take it.
