Firsty, Hello Everyone!

Im writing this on behalf of a friend who is considering buying a Ducato and just wondered if I could get a few questions answered, so I figured this was the place!

Far as I know, it's only really required for those times when you think, "Hmm...i really could use a van..." and its a 2001 Ducato 10 SWB 1.9 D. The seller is a very close friend of the guy buying it, and the van has been serviced twice a year regardless (...and has VERY low mileage and is also a reasonable price...or so i'm told.)

After driving it, the first question the considering buyer had for me was..." Is it really THAT underpowered?!" Now i'm no Clarkson, or a Wannabe reviewer for that matter, but the only figures I could find for the 1.9D were for a grand total of 84BHP. Theres also an earlier variant which is 69BHP as far as i'm aware. I could be of course wrong about this, and that's why i'm here i guess.

My potential buyer friend (who had a drive in the Ducato) said it felt seriously under-powered, even for the 84BHP. He reckoned there should be a lot more pulling power too, and even at that it wouldn't pull him past 55/60 MPH. I couldn't find torque figures at all so if anyone has the source of these, this would be grateful if anyone has sources.

All this considered, my friend did say if thats how it's meant to feel, then he'd be happy taking it because of the fact he knows it's well cared for and the asking price considered. He has however made jokes about towing with it, and his uncertainty about approaching an incline of any description, which does leave me worried.

So I was thinking... I know some of some diesels and commercials which have restrictions, is there anything like that used in the Ducato? Is there even ANY real reason for the limited feel to the van or is its just a "grin-and-bear-it" statistic?
I guess i'm more-so looking for a confirmation of the specifications, or to see if theres any advice/things to look out for when buying.

Thanks all for taking the time to read! :D
