I have a motorhome, 2011, based on a Ducato. When I switch on all lights appear as normal, but when I try to engage the starter the engine does not turn, just a click noise. After a few attempts it starts fine. Maybe a day or tow later it start fine the first time. Any help

Solenoid sticking, relay stuffed, wiring or engine earth strap. Check wiring to starter and solenoid and earth strap isn't loose or damaged. If you have a multimeter check for 12v at solenoid when you hear the click, check earth resistance. If you don't have a meter you can use a jump lead to provide a temporary earth to the engine to rule out earth problem. A hammer used to be a popular tool for sticking solenoids.

hi, and welcome to FF,

check for poor connections,

when you turn the key and NOTHING happens try to see if the lights dim ( oil, handbrake/ battery)

if they don't dim, then the power isn't going from the battery..,

There is a short ground strap between battery minus and the chassis. The chassis side terminal is crimped with excessive pressure, it looks OK but there is a hairline crack between the round and the flat part. During starting a lot of current is converted into heat there. Solder or weld it and your starter motor will spin much faster.
