Our Ducato Maxi oil sensor seems faulty, we add or drain oil and the sensor doesn't show the adjustment, anyone else have this problem ???

I have had that on VW/Audi engines but put it down to dirty oil.
Not everyone agrees with me but I always use engine flush on any S/H vehicle I buy and before every oil change.
On some modern engines with hydraulic actuated valves if particles are disturbed there are tiny filters in the system which can block so I can see the need to be careful. But then I am never going to buy one of those vehicles any way:)

This is a van with only 15000ks/9500m aprox. Showed up as Low oil, we added a litre but no adjustment on gauge, mechanic drained and measured correct amount, still showed Low, drove 300ks then it read Over Oil Limit for the next 300-400 ks then changed to exactly the right amount. Fiat claimed we had done it all wrong and only THEY could add oil as they had the correct recalibration tools, absolute joke

So in no way oil contamination.
I suspect they know the sensors are faulty and are told to avoid admitting and having to change costly parts.
I remember years ago in the trade a friend showed me a service bulletin, I think it was on Ford Orions that if customers with a car under warranty complained about a hesitation when car was hot, then to adjust the mixture to make it run richer or fit a larger fuel jet to pacify the customer, because the real cure was a new £400 carb under warranty which they didn't want to pay for. The problem was caused a a drilling in the carb body to near to the base where the heat vapourised the fuel at that point and made the car hesitate.:)
