Technical Ducato Maxi 180 xlwb wheels

Hi all, I have just sold my 57 plate Ducato 160 and have purchased a new Ducato 180 xlwb. My old van had the 15" Fiat Alloy wheels and I want to put new 16" Alloys on the new van. Can anybody tell me the what the offset is and stud diameter for the Maxi xlwb. I have also been informed that all new Fiat Ducatos now come with a spare wheel ?????

The offset is ET68 and the PCD 130mm

Hi rayc, thanks for the reply, I have seen load on ebay for the ducato maxi but they are saying ET50. What does ET mean ?

Watch out on eBay ! I thought about putting alloys on my 180, there are loads of different suppliers offering different offsets which could lead to handling problems (too narrow or wide wheel base)
Also if you find correct exact fitment, stick to 16" as the larger 18/20" wheels although probably look great, you can't get proper loaded tyres in the matching size, just car tyres that won't take the weight of a fully loaded 3.5t van

Hi rolopolo, I am sticking to 16" as I want to use original tyres. There are loads on ebay that say they are suitable for the latest Ducato but they have an offset of 50 and I have been informed that it should be ET62 ??? There are the latest scorpion wheels on ebay that says they will fit but they have an offset of 50.

Need to know width of alloy?

If 6" same as standard,

Et50 will sit 18mm further away from the centre of vehicle than ET68.

That's 36mm wider (both wheels)

From memory that would put quite an extra load on the bearings/hub and steering
Possible tyre rubbing on wheel arch,

My van has 225/75x16 tyres and come close to arches, std size is 215/75x16 which are slightly smaller diameter, so may get away with that (front arches)

Maybe other members more mechanically minded van confirm this

This offset tool I've based it on ET50 & ET62 so it shows 12mm
But ET68 equal 18mm

There are plenty of alloy wheels on motor homes based on the maxi chassis with 16" wheels. They are up to taking the loads such as 2.4t per axle and 225/75/16 116 load rating tyres. My wheels are ET68 and the 225/75/16 tyres were fitted at manufacture by Fiat.

The above wheels have: 6j x 16h2 57 center stamped on the inside if that helps.

ET is an abbreviation of EinsTiefe, a German word that means "in step" better translated as Offset. The offset is the distance from the centre line of the wheel to the mounting flange face. If the offset is wrong, the steering will be affected as the relationship of the pivot point of the steering is moved relative to the centre of the contact patch of the tyre.

No I was outbid and I forgot about them. They went for £250 for all 4 new fiat wheels. I have got some new scorpions which look a lot better. Made for the Maxi van with a load rating of 1250kg per wheel.

Hi All. Finally got the new scorpion wheels on the van using the existing tyres. Just for your info the new 250 does not have the blanking plates where the fog lights go. I had to take off the quarter bumpers to cut out the circle to fit the day running lights. I do not know how but when wired up to the fuse box and ignition turned on, the onboard display tells you that day running lights have been installed ??. Can anyone tell me how to upload pics to my threads.

Who's make & model fog/daytime lights have you fitted? I have been toying with idea of fitting some, do they work with the vans systems? (Bulb warnings, on when headlights off and vice- versa)?

Hi Rolopolo. Got them from Ledcom on ebay. £63.50, cheaper if you ring them direct. live wire goes to fuse 24 (Electric windows) You even get the fuse adapter. Very easy to install. Lights come on automatically 3 to 4 seconds when ignition is turned on and engine running. (6000k) brightness. When you switch on your main lights the DRLs will automatically go to half brightness. When I fitted them my van automatically told me that they had been added on the display panel. When you switch off engine the DRLs will stay on if you forget to lock the van. Also when you do park up they will go out approx 40 secs after you have locked the van to give you time to get indoors. Dont go for the cheap £14 ones on ebay as they dont have the control box. I have been trying to upload pics of the new van, can you help. Cannot find image album in my user CP.
