Technical Ducato 2001 x230 ECU Help Wanted: Part Numbers

Hi All, newbie here. Glad to join this family.

I recently bought a fiat ducato Van, x230 2.8idTD, 2001 model. Its a restoration project to be honest. So far i have done everything else, body work, new tyres, replaced seats and now im working on the engine.

Realised the ECU and the ignition were removed, probably sold to someone else.

Im on a mission to find and buy a replacement ECU together with the key set. I have no idea of the part number and this has greatly stalled my mission. Anyone to help with the part number i should be using in searching for the right replacement? Or a link probably to the parts im after.

I think that perhaps you have mistaken the engine type, as the 2.8idTD has a mechanical injection pump, and does not require an ECU.

The 2.8jtd was introduced in 2000, but vehicles fitted with the earlier 2.8idTD may not have been registered until 2001.

The 2.8idTD injection pump is at the front of the engine, and has 4 pipes tp the injectors, while the 2.8jtd has a hp fuel gallery along the engine with 4 short injection pipes to the injectors, which also have electrical connections to the ECU.

Photo of 2.8jtd with some hoses removed is attached. The injector cables which can be mistaken for pipes, are visible in a clamp near the engine lifting lug.

Agreed, my mistake. Its indeed a JTD. If only i knew the UK plates then it would be much easier to determine exactly what model it is. But the VIN has helped pretty much. Just stuck on knowing the ECU part number to search for the replacement.

The details below are from an "eBay" page, I assume that 2001 relates to the year which would be correct for an x230 model.
In general I have noted the used ECU offers seem to be marked either D28, or 244. My thoughts are that an ECU marked "244" is for the x244 model, and D28 is for the x230, but I could be wrong.
I suggest doing a web search for the part number, and check results for suitability. Please be aware that you will also need matching code receiver and ignition keys.
