Hey all.

So I have a 2011 1200cc Fiat panda with the dualogic gearbox.

The other day I was on a trip and at some point, after 2 hours of driving in automatic, I got a check engine light, beeping and the gear changed to neutral while driving. This has happened before and I noticed that if I continue using automatic it sets the gear to neutral again but if I change it to manual I can continue driving with no issues. This time though I noticed that the engine temperature was not measuring as if the car is turned off. I pulled to the side, turned the car off and then back on, and the temperature showed 1/4 instead of 1/2 while driving and when I stopped the temperature went up to 1/2 as it's supposed to be. I continued the trip using manual gears and despite the check engine light still being on and the temperature not reading correctly, I had no other issues. I took the car to the electrician and he told me that I need to change the temperature sensor but no other errors were registered in the cars computer.

I will change the temperature sensor but I am wondering, could this be the reason why it changed the gear to neutral while in automatic or are these 2 issues non related? In the past when the gear changed from automatic to neutral I did not notice the temperature at all.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Let me know if you need any more information, I will gladly provide it.

Thank you in advance!

Check the temperature ot the bottom edge of the the top hose, from a cold start

It's quite likely the thermostat is letting coolant past

And the temperature sensor is fine

Sound like two separate problems

Accumulator defective
Too little oil in the system, easy to check

Being the most likely

Seeing as you have an error warning, reading the code would be a good starting place

Needs a scantool that can connect to other modules not just the engine code reader

They are a fairly basic system, but unfortunately not many people have experience of repairing them, here in the UK, if they were more popular in greece
