Or, if possible, reverse up the hill.

Sorry, but this just doesn't work. This morning - as I posted above - my 500 would not move AT ALL in reverse but would drive forward. In reverse on ice the 500 just slips sideways.

Also IIRC the reverse thing stems from the Ford Model T, which needed to be in reverse (i.e. pointing downwards) to get enough fuel into the carb to go up steep hills!

If you have directional tyres I can se why it would not work.

normal tyres don't work well at cold temperatures

Mine are still gripping absolutely fine in the cold, wet and even the snow and ice. I'm massively impressed by them as standard tyres (I've got the Conti Premium Contact 2's if anyone is interested), obviously they're never going to be as good as actual winter tyres but for everyday driving they're spot on. Even my ice coated work car parked gave me no problems.(y)

I'm an old hardened off roader currently taking a symester.
However, I was quite taken with my A500 this morning. Absolutely no problem getting into work.
Don't let anyone say you're a nancy boy if you use TTC or ESP. That's just jealousy talking.

Couldn't get mine to move at all this morning :( Tried everything, but it wouldn't budge! I managed to make the boost gauge tell me to 'shift up' in Sport mode for the first time, thing is I wasn't moving  lol

turn sport off and TTC on and mine was brill.

don't worry about extra narrow rims and special sizes, I use normal sizes on normal alloy wheels (spare set) (y)

Have you seen the price of 225/45R17 M+S? ;)You 500 people are so lucky!Does the 500 try to swap ends under braking? With it's alledged light rear I'd have thought it would try to spin if both fronts weren't gripping exactly the same.

Too slow I beat you.
although its about 10 " by you so that maybee why.

It has been VERY deep, never drove in weather this bad!

Clearly not read my post about my Abarth test drive, went into the dealer ready to put a deposit down, came out having been underwhelmed.
good job i ordered mine without a test drive then.
It has taken me 3 weeks to start getting used to it.
but I still think the A500 is the one to have...:worship:

I'll most liely still get one for my next 500 as I thought the ride was superb, the dampig was far superior to the 1.2 It's just the performance was a little sanitised.
