Clearly not read my post about my Abarth test drive, went into the dealer ready to put a deposit down, came out having been underwhelmed.

So you bought a lesser car then. That's logical. I've had both. The A500 is a much better car in every way.

No, I have now had two non Abarth 500's since Jan 2008 so feel well placed to comment. went into the dealer WANTING to PX my current 500 a year befor I planned to, but just didn't feel it.

Not every way. What about fuel consumption, insurance and tax?

It's actually not that bad, tax is obviously far more expensive against the 1.2.

My insurance for my old 1.4 Sport was £500 a year and I'm still paying £500 with the Abarth. Fuel consumption is also around the same as the 1.4 Sport, so all in all not too shabby (y)

I get an average of 38mpg, sport mode always on, and hardly driving with economy in mind.

Tax is £83 for six months, insurance is only a killer dependant on your age etc.

Still theres nothing wrong with a 1.2/1.4 500 depends what you want.

Fuel consumption in the 1.2 is not anything special unless you drive like a complete granny. Yes you can maybe get 50mpg, but god it must be boring. I've not managed it yet. My 100HP gives me roughly the same MPG, but you get more value from your fuel. The tax thing is good though

My insurance on from my 1.2 to the Abarth jumped £500 :( I'll not be getting one for a while yet!

For me it was notjing to do with running costs. If I liked the car enough I'd have chopped my 1.2 in sooner than intended, however, despite the hype I wasn't feeling it to the extent I hoped I would.

An Abarth is still on my list of replacements for the current 500 though as it was a nice car.

Just returned to Kent from a family visit to Lincolnshire. Very heavy snow the whole visit and my 500 (diesel) didn't put a foot wrong. At one point in Scunthorpe it was the only car to pass a line of stuck vehicles on a hill during in a snow storm. You should have seen them all with their feet to floor and wheels spinning like the clappers while I drove sedately past them.

I think that a skid pan training should be a requisite part of the driving test and all people who have already passed their test should have to take it too.

Played about in an empty car park practising skids and hand brake turns - highly amusing and great fun - will I ever grow up :D
