Technical Driveshaft circlip

Hi guys,

As I'm sure you can guess, my circlip/snap ring/drive shaft retaining clip has snapped whilst removing my outer CV joint. I bought a CV boot kit from eurocarparts and thought the clip they provided seemed a little big. Nevertheless I went ahead and tried to fit the joint back on and surprise surprise the new one got mangled up and snapped.

Where can I get one that actually fits a punto mk2 2001 hlx? Thinking of asking a fiat dealer tomorrow. I found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-PUNT...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19e418fc6a but I'm not spending that much on a small clip!

Is there a nack to putting the joint back on the shaft without snapping the clip?

Thanks for the reply

I think you're thinking of the clip that goes around the CV boot rather than the clip that holds the CV joint onto the drive shaft (the one I'm looking for).

No not that. Follow the link on eBay and you'll see what he's talking about.


If in the same position I'd speak to the fiat dealer take the drive shaft with you if you can.

The worrying thing is the clip shouldn't really be in a position to be chewed up

Found a clip at £1.08 at a local fiat dealer today so job sorted! Hopefully this one will be the right size so it'll all fit on like a glove.
