anyone know where i can get an right side inner cv joint for a grande punto 2008 1.4 tjet.
my one is knocking its head off then i turn left hand bends.
cant find one anywhere

Hi

Barring the actual manufacturer :)

You should find plenty with the part number from ePER

GOOGLE that number.. there will be lots

Is the car lowered..? Grandes are naturally tall.. so they were not designed for different articulation (n)

A joint a month was often quoted by the LOW contingent

no its standard ride hight.

t-jet driveshafts are different to all the other grande models if i remember correctly, so pattern parts not common. Might be a dealer job, or ask a specialist Fiat parts supplier like shop4parts or Fiat Workshop
shop4parts.co.uk/
fiatworkshop.co.uk/

Are you sure it's the inner joint? Outer joints are the ones that make noise when turning.

I agree with eeeno. Unless inner joint has been off and badly reassembled they don't generally cause much problem as they don't have to move around so much as an outer joint.

the cv boot on the inner joint was split open when i bought the car.
i put a new one on ,and put a new outer cv joint on the same time.

Oops! ;)
What can happen is when the joint is pulled out the cups on the inner joint drop off and the needles rollers come out, it will make the joint horrible and wobbly, it can happen when struggling on your own trying to relocate the inner end, not the first.

would the passenger side inner cv joint fit on the right. the dealers are asking £260 for an inner joint for the right side

I don't have specific knowledge on that, I am sure someone else on the Forum will have.
If the car is off the road, personally I would carefully take the shaft out, clean and strip it down to see where the damage is for sure. If nothing is broken it may be possible to find all the bits inside the CV boot and carefully reassemble it, I have done this in the past on older Peugeots etc.
Only do this if you are certain you are able, no disrespect, these shafts will be traveling at 70mph+.
Re the using the part from another side, if all in good order it may be possible to use the internals if the actual joint is not identical to your side, using plenty of proper CV joint grease on assembly (fun to get off your hands, sticks like s***)

just found a second hand one on ebay. will give that a try.
complete shaft wheel to gearbox for seventy pounds

On my old £600 runabout GP
It had a driveshaft related 30/40mph 'pumping' vibration

The inner joint had obviously had a hard life .. outer style CV boot fitted..so of course it didnt seal (n)

Used assemblies were £100 wheras the opposite side were £40

The boot and inner joint transferred no problem

Use the ePER link I already gave you to compare left vs right (DN vs SN in Italian)

Im astounded nobody is listing your part !!

Its a wear and tear drivetrain part produced in vast quantities

SEVENTY QUID worth s try.. as you get other parts too..

My quick research says your required 'tripod' may be this :

Based on the part number I cross referenced..

From sellers of genuine FIAT Alfa boxed parts..

Always worth checking with seller before payment :)
