Technical dodgy stereo - help pls

Hello again,

I seem to have nothing but problems with my barchetta but she looks good at least!

I have taken out the terrible factory fit clarion. It used to change cd or skip songs intermittently!

My new stereo worked & now only works when the car is warm! I think it now may not be working at all!

Any ideas???

Does anyone know how to trace the wiring under the bonnet?

Did you not use the original wiring to fit it? What wiring is under the bonnet, there shouldn't be any unless hardwired to the battery

It sounds like you need to check all your connections, I would not think there is a problem with the wiring itself, more than likely it is the connections immediately at the rear of the unit or a bad earth connection.

If it only works when it's warm it's obviously not an Alpine head unit...

My friend removed the stereo & I got the adaptor because my boyfriends stereo had loads of open wires not the compact wire withs the plastic bit.
The main connector didn't fit in well initially. We have taken it out & put it back in again and it isn't working.

We used the original wiring.

How would we sort out a bad earth connection??

Hmmm.........
This would be one of those jobs that would need to be seen hands on to sort rather than try to explain via the forum I'm afraid
It's quite likely something really trivial, but annoying!!

May be worth connecting the wires by connector block one at a time rather than the adaptor. Once OK hardwire everything by solder instead of the connectors and insulate with heat shrink.
