Hi
I have a 1996 Barchetta. The airbag ECU died and I am having a hard time getting parts (apparently Henk has passed away? And the parts sent do not work for my mechanic). From my mechanic:

One of the modules gives me the fault code 201 "airbag module fault" and the second module which I have just tested is not communicating at all with the diagnostics computer. I have reverted back to the first module to ensure that I do not simply have a blown fuse or other issue that would explain not being able to communicate with the second module received but this is not the case, ie I can go back and communicate normally with the 1st module.

For your information I am able to provoke new faults (disconnect a pretensioner or airbag charge) and then clear those faults but the fault 201 is permanent and will not clear.

Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Also - I will search the forum but is there another place to buy these? I probably can get them on ebay.

See attached with Serial Numbers etc.

It is known that airbag module number 46443798 has a bug. You can reset fault codes only some 5 times, after that ECU will be locked. You can't clear the codes without reprogramming whole unit.

I had same problem on my 1996 B, and to solve it i bought ECU with spare part number 46476309. It is drop in replacement and does not have same problem. So you can reset codes as many times as needed.
