My Panda MJ has had to have new front discs and pads. Nothing unusual in that, for a car with over 118k miles on the clock, but the pads were literally falling apart. There was a good amount of material left on them, but all 4 pad blocks had very nearly come away from their backplates,. I can't tell what brand they were (they were on the car when I bought it), but how common is this? I presume that they were cheap, poor quality parts, but maybe I'm wrong. Can anyone shed light on this?

The car's braking has been transformed with new, quality parts.

I've seen brake shoe material separate from the shoe but I've never seen brake pads separate like that as they are usually one piece..

if you are alight braker then pads may have been in years?
pads like shoes do delaminate and not just cheap ones either

Lol. I'd say you're right there. My factory fitted ones were pretty much rubbish.
