Thats some work Doc, looking really well(y)
really liking the carbon fiber oil cap, really smart and goes well with the BMC
Are you going to run the heat shield with the new manifold or are you going to show that off?

No sure as it goes as the manifold will look cool all polished but it does sit real close 2 the radiator fans so the heat might stuff them up. Have to see how it goes.

I didn't think that the supersprint manifold had heatshield mountings so unless you are planning on welding on S/S your decision may have been made for you! Also, its not a good idea to wrap the S/S manifold - much thinner than mild steel!

Looking forward to seeing it on the car! (y)

when fitting the supersprint manifold, you can forget about the heatshield completely, so that is simple: just throw it away :)

however, if you've got the dual fans (becuz of airco or becuz its cool) you'll have to "split" the fans, as one of the fans sits in the way of the first knuckle, otherwise you'll melt or block the fan

I have just fiited the supersprint manifold, and yes the dual fans do sit very close but , there is a rubber gasket/washer at the top which holds the rad.

Removing this allows for more clearance. Ive not run the B for a long period but have had her upto temperature at standstill and no melting so far.

Not sure if the exhaust at any time will get any hotter under different circumstances. say in traffic or at speed.

I would say there is a clearance of around 8-10mm between the closest part of the fans.

Will keep an eye on and see how we go unless

OH! and Doc, just some other points to mention.

I did purchace a new gasket with intensions of changing this too, but it would mean you woud have to also remove the water manifold/system and this seemed like to much hassle for what is was worth. The old one was fine so left this in place. Its a metal one so no problems with leaving it on.

And also you will need to remove and modify/ bend the oil dip stick into a new position.

Hope this helps. (y)
