Started work on the Barchetta tonight removing the front bumper and head lights but I run out of daylight so packed it in for the day. KC3 came calling to collect his new front light and we ended up spending an hour chatting and going for a quick drive in his B. Sorry KC I can talk the hind legs off a donkey when it comes to the B. :p

Look forward to your upcoming mod updates. (y)

Today I mounted the sound deadening material inside the PS front wing and around the front of the car, I also replaced the PS front light and mount the HID kit. The weather turned so I called it a day.

With the front bumper off I see that I need to replace a few other mounts that I have pointed out in the front B picture. Yet another call to Fiat for a bunch of small parts

Doc

I have just went beyond the relms of jelousy :worship:
You should really consider sending Fiat photos of how they should have built the car. Do you keep it in bubble wrap when not in use :D It cant be that clean you must have photoshoped the dirt and blemishes away lol.

I am very impressed (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

It really is that clean! I tried to keep up for a while but realising that I had no chance as I drive it every day, if I am ever in a position where I need a 4 seater for work or get a co. car I would keep the b and do a bolt by bolt restoration and customisation over a couple of years.............might turn into my retirement project!!

well I have had only driven 1500 miles in mine in six months and it looks a disgrace next to the docs
It will only get worse, I have driven her nearly every day this week and I am getting bored washing her every 5 minutes as I hate her being dirty :(.
Still once I have bedded in in my new job I will get a rep mobile to drive about in.I was considering it just now but it seems a waste of money buying some cheap run about when the b is sitting there doing nothing. Plus like I said it has given me the excuse to spend some money on her without the other half freaking out. She wants a new bathroom I want loads of mods. No prizes for guessing who will probably win in the end though:bang:

I can beat that. I've done approx 5 feet forward and 30 feet backwards in mine since I got it...... looks good sitting under its custom cover all the same. Bring on the decent weather. Couldn't bear to use it every day. Got a very economical Grand Cherokee V8 for that. Thankfully it runs on lpg so not so bad. Looking for a runaround though. Been looking at Marea Wagons but most are rubbish. Would love a 500, would be happy with a Panda but need to wait til they are sub £1k!

Its not to bad to drive everyday took me a day or so to get used to it. Ive only really been out for an hour or so for a wee run with the roof down in the summer. I had to take the windstop of as I couldnt see a thing out the rear window and trying to negociate the forth bridge in rush hour is not much fun if you cant see :(. I know its not the most expensive car in the world but i still get paranoid leaving her in dodgy areas as it attracts loads of attention :). I am going to use it for six months then spend a grand or so on another runabout. I am changing jobs at the end of the month and I have had to hand back my company car :(. I think I will stay away from a cherokee a tad too thirsty for me. I had a cougar v6 for about six months but the oil company wanted there tanker back that I had to have following me to keep her running lol. Are you up my side of the country??

Runabout is a great thing. I had a Xantia td estate which I got off ebay for £600. Did 25k in it before it expired and only changed the oil regularly. Left it for dead in Durham last October. Sad really, was a good car.

I am in Aberdeenshire, so not so far from you. Be good to meet at a scottish B meet. Not convinced about Arran though. Seems an unnecessary expense to spend £70 odd on a ferry to get there. Plenty of other great places to go without incurring that. But then, I guess I am just a miserable sod.....

I was looking at one of those on ebay it went for 900 last week. I just cant justify all the other expenses at the moment insurance ect. I booked a holiday to florida in june before I decided I had enough and wanted something else to do so I am sticking with the b for 6 months . I cant stop looking though had my eye on a 2.4 stilo arbarth but i need to behave or she will kill me. I agree with you with the arran thing but it should be a decent day out I have never been there before. It is only really the price of a night out and it will be something different I quite like the idea of a few b's on a run it think it would be quite head turning experience

Yeah, would be great I agree. Just made it more expensive than it had to be....

A run up to Aberdeenshire would have made much more sense! :p

Insurance. Depends what you pay for the b. I have a multicar policy at £599 which covers up to 5 cars. So the Jeep, B and whatever else all covered. Good deal (y)

watty i stay in sighthill ,we will have to meet up one day if your up for it ,give us a shout

Sounds like a plan (y)

we should try and convince lanciaman to come down from aberdeen and meet us half way. He needs an excuse to take his custom cover off and get it dirty. I take it from lrbs's comment yours is a black riviera too so that should turn a few heads :slayer: I start my new job in 3 weeks and I have every weekend off( the first time in my employment career, cant wait):D so any weekend is good. I am going on the scottish barchetta club run to arran on the 13th of may so dont know whether you are up for that????

Cracked on with the other wing soundproofing and head light replacement today. The HID kit is in and working but the lights will need aligning when it gets dark. I need to order some good quality LED side light bulbs as the crap set i picked up off eBay dont work .

I had to remove the washer bottle to give me the space to soundproof the wing so that gave me the chance to give it a good clean and once over.

Next on the cards is to place an order for a load of brackets with Fiat tomorrow and go and buy some red spray paint. I am also loooking into a better power steering cooler as that would free up some space at the front of the car if I could get shot of the OEM cooler rods.

Hi all,

Are there any issues with the HID lights passing MOT?

Can't think why there should be but wanted to get the collective wisdom of the forum before I install mine (before or after the next MOT).
