Technical Dipped beam headlights issue..

basically ive a dipped headlight issue, as soon as i turn the key in the car to Mar or ignition my dipped beam headlights light up and stay on. I've written down what happens per each action of the stalk.

no key in ignition, nothing.... [FONT=&quot]emergency [/FONT]lights work

Ignition set to MAR- dipped beam lights on, no dashboard lights, (light stalk switch off)

Engine on - dipped beam lights on, no dashboard lights, (light stalk switch off)

Engine on, lights set to sidelights: sidelights on, dipped beam lights on, dashboard lights on (sidelight symbol on dash too)

Engine on, dipped beam set: everything on as should be.

Engine on, full beam set: everything normal

I have tried swopping the relays over with a like for like one, I've also checked every fuse relating to the dipped and main beam all the fuses are ok

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I like the idea of Daylight running lights but dipped beam all the time? sheesh! lol

MAR and ON are the same position. Does the headlamp level indicator show on the dash screen when they're on?

Ahhh should have reworded that to Engine on instead then
the headlight level symbol isnt there until i turn the stalks onto dipped headlights then it shows up.

And I assume removing the relays in turn turned off each side in turn? Also does the follow me home headlights mode function still as well?

Sounds like its potentially a body computer fault.

If not tryed already Try a good old fashioned disconnect battery for 30 mins see if resets anything not right in computer system

Right, just tried the follow me home lights, and the parking lights. The P button plus left or right indicator works so I can choose ether sidelight to be on.
However, when trying to get follow me home lights to work the whole dash cluster lights up for a split second and goes off but no external lights come on. Also leaving the lights on after the engine is switched off brings up ars and abs text warnings which go away as soon as the lights are switched off.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, I'm thinking earth(s) now.
