Hello I am going to install a Chinese diesel heater in the van I'm in two minds to get a separate fuel tank or use the main one. Does the 2019 version have a hatch inside the van to get to the sender unit., and what are the pros and cons of tapping into the sense unit any advice will be appreciated thanks

Hello,

A separate fuel tank is more problematic to use, as you have a second tank to refuel. But it won't leave you without any fuel in case the heater dries the tank and you put a t-connector on the fuel hose.

No idea what kind of fuel connection your heater has, but the original Webasto / Eberspeacher / Planar heaters offered two possibilities: a t-connector to install on a fuel pipe or a kind of needle that you were supposed to put in the tank. It had the advantage that you were able to choose the depth, so it was possible to set it in a way to leave a couple of liters of fuel in the tank to be able to drive to the station :)

No idea for what purpose you want to install the heater, but some time ago the majority of the chinese heaters had a timer and automatically were switching off after an hour. So it was impossible to use it like a heater in a campervan or motorhome. As far as I remember it was not possible to change it in the menu on the basic control unit, you needed another unit.

I've bought one a couple of years ago, but have not installed it, as they delivered a diesel one instead of a petrol one.

Thanks for replying I will be sleeping in it on occasions I was thinking of drilling a hole through the plastic sender unit and installing a stand pipe. But I don't want to mess any thing up with the fuel system
