Bad luck on the delay.

I got mine this morning, well chuffed with it.

It only seems to like it if I do a couple at a time.

Here are two pics, one from collection yesterday morning (free bunch of flowers donated to my other half) and one from yesterday in the sunshine.

Thanks, I'm very pleased with it so far.

It's a 1.2 Active 3 door, in Bolero Red. It has been specced up with metallic paint, side rubbing strips and side airbags (so not much then!). I reckon the colour looks fab - it really stands out. I'm hoping that there won't be too many this colour, most of the ones at the dealer ready for delivery were silver or black.

I thought about going for a Dynamic 1.2 or Active Sport 1.4 but settled for this in the end, as it fulfilled all my requirements!

I've now done 200 miles, and can confirm that the engine is loosening up nicely already. Performance is better today than it was yesterday with 11 miles on the clock, and that goes for fuel economy.

It's so much more fun to drive than my previous Skoda Fabia. I don't like leaving it in car parks though, and it's already dirty! Bah!

I think you're right, the evidence (at the dealer) would seem to confirm that.

For me, it was a toss up between Chemical Grey and Bolero Red, until I saw a grey one and it looked a bit dull.

My last car was blue, so that was out (although I would have had it if I went for the Active Sport (shame there's not more choice on that model)) and my other half's car is black, so that was a no go, if only because it gets dirty so fast.

I saw a green one at the dealer - very bold, but an acquired taste shall we say. I could have had a metallic light blue but that was a bit insipid. The Rock n' Roll blue is hideous, a real travesty to paint a car like this in that dreary colour. The metallic orange is also a bit... 70's.

I haven't seen one in white, although I think it might actually look quite good, for an hour or so until it has been driven. The Belly Dance sand is for OAP's only.

So far no Sportings spotted, so no orange or bright red. I'm constantly scanning the road to see another one, but no joy yet!

Liking the colour as well.

I remember when my dad bought his saab 93 convertible the dealer give him a bunch of flowers for my mum, to say thankyou for letting him have a convertible! :D
 
the colour makes the car look great. nice one mate.
i never know why fiat dropped the teseo metallic blue since the mk2 punto. it was simply gorgeous in the sunshine and gave hints of purple.
 
I know the colour you mean, it was nice. It's always good when colours surprise you when the light changes. It's not like a silver, grey or black could do that really. Each to his own though.

I have just discovered how nice the interior is at night. I already knew that there was an orange thing going on, but at night time with a very dark interior (the Active is mostly black) it looks great. Very nice subtle orange glow on all switches, including the stereo controls on the steering wheel, which was a pleasant surprise.

Only a small thing I suppose, but it's little discoveries like this that always make owning a new car such fun!

Now then, is anyone planning on going along to AutoItalia at Brooklands at the end of the month? Maybe we could arrange some sort of Grande Punto get-together, even if that only meant parking up together on the banking? If we could do that I think we would be trend setters! This is of course dependent on people actually having their cars delivered by this point!

Let me know if you might be interested, even if you're not a GP owner yet!

I noticed there was a stand, but in my experience of these things there's never much room. Usually when you want to get a load of similar cars together you have to park up somewhere.

A few years ago when I had a Tipo 16v we managed to get a 'display' of some sorts on a couple of occasions, but they seem to be a bit stricter now.
 
Nice to see your new GP Alex. And from Wilson Purves too. I used to get my Punto serviced mostly by them as I reckon they're better than the other more local Fiat dealers. Now I work in Redhill, I'll keep an eye out for a red GP!

Wilson Purves have been great so far. Their sales service was very good and I'm confident in their ability to look after the car, although this remains to be seen. Hopefully it'll just be routine servicing!!

I test drove a car at Thames in Croydon - man that place was awful. Just like Wilsons in Epsom, a massive dealer with massive overheads, and no sense that if you have any problems you would get some sensible attention from them.

Anyway, on another note, I have just been out on a nice drive out from Redhill towards Guildford and back to help run the car in. I'm totally gobsmacked with the way the car goes, the engine is so lively and it picks up speed very quickly (and sounds good into the bargain). I can't imagine how quick the forthcoming 16v engines and rumoured 230BHP turbo versions will be!

I'll be sure to pop over to the stand to have a look at a couple more GP's and their owners!

It's funny you say that about the large dealers - when I was searching for the Sporting I whittled it down to 3 or 4 dealers who would have the car by the end of March, one dealer even had a Black one in stock, but after visiting them I really didn't like the salesman and the garages attitude, he came over like he was doing me the favour of selling it to me. That was Perrys of Aylesbury. In the end went with Research garage in Nuneaton because Jane the sales executive was totally honest and said she really needed my business as their March targets were 'horrendous'.
