Hi,

i just noticed brake light to the left of main lights on dashboard has started to flicker and when i push brake pedal it comes fully on any ideas?

hi it could bu the break pads need changeing or the break fluid needs topping up

mine does this. my pads are fine and fuild is fine aswell. I think im correct when i say your clutch fuild is connected to this light aswell and is more than likely your clutch slave cylinder is leaking (common problem on a bravo). it is situated on top of your gearbox and is a cheap fix.

if the pads and fluid level are fine then the wiring for the pad wear indicator or fluid reservoir sensor can be the problem. the wiring could be earthing against the car somewhere.

Just went to check what you all suggested and it was not doing it any more do you think it could have any thing to do with electrical storms? as we just had a big one and heavy rain.

It started doing it again so I spayed some wd40 in the connection by front left wheel which has stop the flicker of the break light but when i push brake pedal hard the light sometimes comes on. I check fluid which is filled passed the max and the brake pedal sometime seems to come to a stop higher then it normaly would (when was pumping breaks while left wheel jacked up)is the overfill causing this? or is this go to be something wrong with the master cylinder?

no, its normal. if you had the engine running it would not have happened.

are you sure your front pads dont need changing? check the inside pad (which you cant see unless you get the wheel off)

I took wheel off and looked at break pad there seems to be 3mm+ of pad is that enough? also before light came on i was getting a squeek from the front left wheel when braking as if there was a bit of grit in between disc and pad.

i was looking at this post last night (as i were after sum answers),this post basically describes whats happenin on my car..i have the marea clocks..

everythin works correctly,(inc door open signs and bulb out etc).when i break normally, nothing comes on,BUT when i break hard as im comin up to a stop..these lights come on..i didnt think nothin of it at 1st as i just presumed it were tellin me my break lighst were on..(as do wen u turn lights on dash an red opened door lights etc)..in answers to this thread,u say pads are on the way out?.im courious to this as ive new discs and pads (got a lot of pads left) an there is no grindin noise when im breakin

it could also be low fluid, or a short in the pad wear indicator wiring. both are likely since it only occurs under heavy braking. check the fluid level first and top up using dot4 fluid if neccessary.

Hi mate, ive gone out and bought some dot4 brake fluid as i checked my car over today and noticed that on my brake cylinder my level was low (on min line) ive topped it up to the max and those lights are still comin on,now there is no grindin noise or scarein on the disc...now do you think if its not 'low fluid',it must be my pads wearing down?..i must admit when i bought my car,my brakes had not long been changed cus the break pedal was hard to push, basically at the top,i didnt have 2 move my foot down at all as i got told it had been bled to the max..
i have only just started noticin these lights comin on and i can also push my break pedal down more now.. so do you think my pads are on the way down?..

Mike
