glad your sorted, but come on, that's a bit harsh isn't it? You want to put someone out of work for incorrectly fitting a number plate?!? (n)

exactly!, please think before making statements like that for if the person did get the sack it could ultimately lead to loss of house, marriage break-up etc

Djbonnett I really hope you have never make a mistake in your line of work that could so easily put you in this situation.

If I make a mistake at work then I own up to it and rectify, simple.

I also dont dismiss my customers and say "its not our problem, go back to Fiat" which the Tech is reported to have said to the Garage workshop manager.

I spent the best part of 4 weeks being fobbed off because of someones
shoddy work... how hard is it to hang a number plate???
It kind of worries me because this guy fits brake pads, I hope he doesnt cut corners on any of your cars; other wise your attitude would change I should imagine.

So no, I dont take that statement back.

If you dont like my post, dont read it.

"The squeeky wheel gets the most grease!!! "

I love that saying.

This is the latest update on my complaint to Arnold Clarke:

After much writing of emails of complaints and getting Fiat involved they agreed to a new tailgate with number plate fitted as Fiat intended.

Looks like 7 years of working in RAC customer complaints actually helped me for something after all! :)

BUT it shouldnt have come to this.

I hope they sacked somone for this, they should be thankfull they have a job.

i hope i never have the misfortune to have you as a customer (n)

for the record i took my plate off this weekend ( to put a private number on) and guess what?

yup, drilled straight through the body work... :yuck:

I can't help thinking a new tailgate for the sake of two screw holes is a bit like taking a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. What would be wrong with sealing and treating the two holes (which would be invisible once the plate was stuck or 'correctly screwed on')?

I'm sure a new tailgate, alignment and paint matching are going to cause you far more headaches than two screw holes you can't even see.

and the screws are zinc plated to prevent corrosion

Thanks to this post I mentioned the license plate thing to my dealer. They fitted the rear plate to the top 2 fixings but not the bottom 2.Im not sure why and I could have kicked off but at least its not drilled through the boot.

So did they correct they're mistake, as it sounds like an easy one to have corrected if they could have been bothered to.

I didnt ask them to put the other 2 lower fixings in.The plate is very secure just using the top 2 mountings.I cant do it myself either as I wasnt given the spare plastic mounts.I was just happy that they hadnt drilled through the boot.It does make you wonder if they are really that busy that they cant fit the plates as Fiat intended.

and if they don't fit the number plate the way the manufacturer intended just how good are they going to be at changing your brake pads and discs, are they going to use the right oil? Nought to do with number plates but last time I had the plugs changed on the Citroen I was only billed for one spark plug, I assume person preparing the bill didn't know the car had 4 cylinders.

To be honest, I feel like my dealer treats me like a total leper just because I'm only buying two pandas for just under 11 grand and not an entire fleet...fair enough I am getting a MASSIVE discount but he doesn't need to make it quite so obvious that he'd rather not be selling me a car at all.
