Hello, all. New to the site.

I have a 1971 500 and wondering if anyone here has found a good solution for installing cup holders in the car?

I’d prefer not to drill holes or anything and nothing I’ve been able to find online seems to comport well with the interior.

So, just curious if anyone here has found something reliable that they’re happy with.

(I did try to do a search before posting this but didn’t find a similar thread. So, apologies if this is repetitive).

Hello, welcome to the forum.

- You could fashion a cup holder out of something like a clean empty tin can, PVC pipe, beer koozie or something similar to attach to a handle with cable ties.

- It could also be worth looking up cup holders that can attach to the handles of kids' buggies as I've heard of folks finding ways to use these in their car.

- Failing that, in the past in old lorries without cup holders, I've made temporary cup holders out of a roll of duct/gaffer tape. Using a roll that still has plenty of tape on it, carefully apply a low amount of heat to one side and then press the roll onto whatever hard flat surface you can stick it to. Voila, that will make a temporary cup holder.

Just a few suggestions, I don't know the interior of 1971 500s but hopefully these ideas are of some use!

Cheers

You used to be able to find a sort of "generic" cup holer/tray combo that straddled the transmission tunnel in front of the gear shifter,
but that space has disappeared in modern cars. I have one in my Giardi, it works if you have a thick ground carpet going over the tunnel.

I have a cupholder (I think from my old Smart) mounted with a tiny screw into the tunnel in front of the rear seat. Very unobtrusive as I didn't
want to spoil the look of the dash. Its only touching the rear seat not affixed to it.
