Doc Prophet of doom! quote]

When you have spent as many hours under a B as I have (sad I know) I was shocked at just all the things going on under the skin. 4/5 more years on your 1998-99 B and all the small little problems will grow into £££ problems. As the B costs about the same to buy as a tank of fuel these days (in the UK) a good few owners will be in for a big shock when the MOT comes round spelling the end of a load more Bs on the road.

I have to agree that there seem to be some weak points under the wings etc, not with the bodywork or welds but with attached brackets that rust into the bodywork. Keeping the b hosed down with fresh water, dealing with rust as you find it and giving all of the hidden 'bit's' a coat of waxoyl all helps though!

So I've sold the remains of the poor b last saturday. :( It will be a donor car for another b - at least an enthusiast bought it. It will be in good hands there....

There was a chap in the UK (Doogal) who scrapped his b but she lives on in many cars on the forum (mine included)........

Doogal, about time you popped in and said hallo!

Dougal's B is still hanging on in there, just!
It is in suspended animation and does need extensive resustication but you never know!
It may still be needed for my two other B's or anyone else in need.
Long term I'm still looking for a third wreck if there is one about.
I would have collected that Slovenian one next time I was in Budapest, but I couldn't seem to get any response via email!
There seems to be a lot being scrapped everywhere now and I wonder how many came into the UK and how many are left.
My blue car is chassis 402 which is quite early, and as in "Blue Peter", anyone got one made earlier?
Interesting and helpful forum, happy motoring to everyone. JC.
