Hello

I've just had a new EGR valve fitted and another part near it cleaned out as it was full of crap! Before the new valve was fitted I had flat spots around 2.5/3k revs. However I think they have gone :) The car is a JTD by the way.

My first question is, at what revs should the car tail off and need changing up from currently been in 2nd gear to 3rd gear? If I push it in 2nd gear in my car it reaches about 3k revs before I feel it die down. I'm not sure if this is still a flat spot or its just ran out of steam in that gear. 3rd, 4th and 5th gear however reached upto 4/4.5k revs :D

Secondly, cruising at 70mph what revs is normal? Mines around 2.25/2.5k. Is this OK? I just want to make sure its not revving to high, therefore affecting my MPG.

These may be silly questions but I just want to make sure things are running as they should. I've also heard the MAF sensors can cause flat spots though, thats if i'm still experiencing them.

Thanks

Phil

yep tis normal. Torque starts to tail at 3k revs so more noticeable in lower gears. Even in my chipped jtd i change at 3k normally

Thats good then, I'm glad its normal. Having this new EGR valve fitted must have elimated the flat spots I used to have (y)

Mine revs at 2k at 60 and same as yours at 70. Sounds ok to me.

Also good to know!

Just want to make sure everything is tickety-boo :D

Phil
