Hi there... hope you may be able to help, i would like to remove the cigarette lighter wiring so i can join in some new wires for my volt gauge and my boost gauge illumination, i have had a quick look but can't seem to remove it, how easy is it?

also where are the jack points, i have not looked under the car yet, basically looking for axle stand points and/or trolley jack points, so i can get the car in the air wheels off to do the brake discs, thought i woudl ask be havinga look as then i know where to look :)

thanks

I think the cigarette wiring goes under the carpet at the front passenger - it's clipped on top of the AC ducting inside the centre console then makes a dive under the carpet - the ASR/ City button wiring feeds up behind the dash which would have been an easier option with the cigarette lighter wiring in your case.

When I had my car jacked up on stands when fitting my exhaust I used the front subframe as a jack point and to hold the axle stand under.

i got a feeling it was fitted in with some sort of keyhole turn and twist and lift?
i wired my water methanol controler to the +feed wire at this socket and resoldered and new heat shrink with a seperate inline fuse by my controler(by ashtray)
i think if you search for cig lighter removal theres a better description out there as i found one but several years ago now.

thanks chaps, i will be adding my wire, and using the ash tray to mount the fuses in... jacking point front sub frame or rear? i will be doing all 4 discs so will be getting the back in the air and the front after :)

Front subframe, I just used the jack supplied with the car to jack up the rear :p it's made to sit on a ridge on the underside near the skirt. Axle stands I put under the rear axle to chassis mount point

thanks dude, i normally always use a trolley (even when my cars are super low i used to drive on bits of wood to raise the sills up enough to get a trolley jack under it) i will do it that way new brake discs here i come

That's standard practice for cars on the deck is it not? :p

I took the liberty of taking a couple of pictures showing where I jack/ support the rear on my car:

That beam in the middle of shot gives good support for a trolley jack.

Axle stand under the bush mount is what I use, or just behind it.
