Hi,

I had my local garage do an MOT on my Punto Mk2b today and they've told me my front subframe is badly corroded and needs replacing (can't be welded). Just wondering where is the best place to find one second hand? I found one on ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fiat-punto-mk2-mk3-00-05-front-subframe-1-2-8v-16v-/121932713834) but not sure if that's good or not. Also, how many hours roughly would it take to replace?

Cheers.

Are you sure they are talking about that piece of metal? If that has corroded that badly the whole car must be in very poor condition. There is another piece of metal at the very front of the car which supports the front bumper and the radiator. It is made of much thinner metal than the subframe you have pictured.

Plenty in scrap yards availible

I'd advise before fitting donor frame - to clean any light rust up now, treat and spray/protect it before fitting

Check the rest of the cars floor for rot as well tbh
If the subframes that badly rotten - its probably not got long left on the floor im affraid
