Coronavirus - The Thread :(

I came back into the UK yesterday via the Eurotunnel. To say it was busy is an understatement.....it was rammed packed with cars going back to the UK.....regardless of the fact quarantine has been in place for the last couple of weeks.

I got to the UK Border check, scanned my passport.....that was it....no mention of the locator form etc.....didn't ask where I'd been or anything.

Judging by the speed of the line going through in front of me, the other 30+ cars in front of me weren't asked either.....and I'm guessing all the other queues were the same.

I did fill in the form, and will be self isolating......but really shows what a joke the system is.

A work colleague has been going backwards & forwards to Holland by van several times a month all through the "lockdown", they have occasionally been given a form re quarantine, but there was simply a tick box to confirm exemption.... :bang:

Unbelievable, all through lockdown I’ve said so many times, there are elements of it doesn’t refer to me attitude. Even if some of us don’t catch the virus, those that do due to selfish thoughtless barstewrds, areas get shut down again if the numbers go high. We seem to be lucky up here but my wife and I are curtailed on where we can go due to family circumstances.

I’ve stopped work since January and I will not be going back partly because of the virus situation. My private pension has came through :D and I’d be silly to carry on working, so I’m retiring early, only by just over a year. Life’s too short and all that. When I turn 66 I will receive the state pension, so that’ll be good.(y) still bad times, I would have liked to worked my last year in an ideal world, but there are health factors as well. So, that’s my wee rant over for now.

just heard on the welsh news. caerphilly is on lockdown from 6 pm.if that is your neck of the woods varesecrasy, wish you well and take care.

Thanks :)
Neighbouring borough..
Border is 1/2 mile from my village..
So I drive through Caerfilli County every trip out

Apparently its centre of infection is Blackwood.. in the next valley.. but the regional shopping town :(

All related to the 'party flights ' from Cardiff to Greece

Caerphilly town in only just north of Cardiff in reality..( Im assuming the M4 is the regional boundary)

Looks like we could be in for a rough winter :(

People moaning about new covid restriction. most of them have not been wearing a mask properly when asked to, have not been using the one way systems marked out in most towns and not been social distancing for weeks.
Shops dont help small ones seem to be doing ok but big ones have removed or stopped topping up hand and trolley cleaner and have removed all social distancing.
I hate the government and will be the first to point out their faults, but if people are going to just be total idiots all the time restrictions are going to have to be strict, if people dont get a grip there wont be a xmas this year.
The 2m rule has never been abolished.
Stop making up bull poop excuses why you think you are exempt from a mask when you can breath in one or at least with a face shield so just wear it.

Why have People stopped using hand sanitiser and cleaning shopping trolleys?
why have so many shops stopped proving it on entry.
Why are people walking around with their nose sticking out of the top of their mask?
Why have large supermarkets abolished one way systems and social distancing markers since the mask law came out, it was meant to be an as well as not an instead of.
Thousands of idiots are blaming everyone else for the rise in cases and new restrictions and lack of testing but doing nothing to control the virus them selves.

Loads of infections but no deaths, does this mean the virus is getting weaker, people are getting immunity, or it's already wiped out the weakest people?
They have found some drugs can increase chances of survival but are not a cure.
Old people and people at risk are still being careful, there is a noticeable lack of old people out and about. went to caravan park last week and even when bingo was on they did not venture into the club.

younger people are being dicks and all catching and spreading it,

They are fools because they may not die but have no idea of damage its doing to their body

To be fair no one really does - sure it can damage it now, but the body could just as easily repair itself later on. Every vice also does body damage - smoking, drinking, whatever.

Until it's know exactly how much and what damage it does, I don't think you should get scared about that.

But its so easy to take precautions without having to hide away, the using the sanitiser for example wont take long, at the start people were fighting over it now they wont go near it.

I am still having trouble breathing and its been 7 months now, still no appointment for specialist, just a letter saying they are too busy due to covid.

People are blaming school kids for the rise, but not looked at the fact now kids have gone back the people who were looking after them at home are no out and about a lot more, the kids are all being careful at school washing hands and staying distant, but all the young parents are meeting for coffee going shopping and mixing with each other a lot more without a care in the world.:bang:

oh i forgot they are also recording the deaths different, before if you had a heard attack for example and died, it would be put down as a covid as there is a good chance the heart attack would not have been fatal with out the covid.
But people kicked off about this claimed it was a conspiracy to make covid look worse that is was. That opened the door for the government to do the opposite and now can make the death rate of covid look lower that it is simply by naming any other illness someone had as reason for death even though pre covid there was a better chance of their survival for the other illness.

I'm following the stats as I really want to get back, but they are strange now.

There is a lot more testing. On the radio today only 2% of those self opting for a test are positive, largely it seems because there has been a country wide outbreak of the common cold since school opened (many in my child's school too). It was confirmed that cold symptoms are nothing like Covid ones and no reason for concern.

Hospitals are better at treatment I hear, though also have heard Covid rate is now higher in the less vulnerable young.

the common cold is virus so if people are getting that they are not taking precautions to avoid virus, seems a concern to be, but probably adults giving it to the kids as their immune system is weaker the adults will just be the carriers,

Didn't they change the method of counting because the original one counted anybody who died following a positive test but with no time frame. So on that basis everybody who died following an positive test was attributed to Covid 19. Even if they had kidney failure, terminal cancer or were in a fatal road accident. I don't think it was a conspiracy to stop that nonsense

Potentially to count in a similar way to the rest of Europe..
( or not ..)

My concern is over the uk Covid testing

There was a BBC news article about a test site in South Wales

A couple said they found a last minute vacancy there.. local to them..
As they had a test spot reserved in Somerset ..110 miles away

Also interviewed was a couple from 110 miles away who had travelled to SouthWales with their 3 children.. then struggled to find local facilities open.. for food..toilets..etc

Surely capping the SEARCH area for available tests would seem logical..

Im sure the sites were set up based on 'catchment area : population'

A 40 mile radius would seem logical.. an hours driving... 3+ hour journeys for people feeling unwell doesnt sound at all sensible.

Stopping 'out of area' ..
motorway services probably arent taking temps and contact details..
