ok so the connector pipe only comes part of the exchanger! but it obviously comes off the exchanger, the question is still ( as i don't fancy remove it without knowing, is there a way of repairing and or seal (O Ring) replacement
Neil. That pipe/connector looks plastic in the picture and the leak dosn't look to bad but my guess is that there is an o-ring on the tube and I would probably take it out and try some silicon grease on it.
Even if you sealed it with something stronger like a 2 part adhesive and it still leaks no harm done as you will have to replace it all anyway.
Do you have an assortment of o-rings on hand just in case.

Been chatting to a few mechanic mates today and they reckon the same as you, will whip it out when I've a free day and go round the factors or b&q lol on the great o ring hunt
You may have more luck going around plumbers merchants. I have a vast selection of various 0 rings which were all acquired (and then left over) for plumbing jobs.
