on my mates car, the DV he fitted to that wasn't working. took it off, and boiled it up in a big of grease. it cleaned the excess off and refitted it. Couple of mins later it was working again (y)

On the road as usual sorry for the late replys

It is a piston type Bailey dump valve but it has worked though lower temps without a problem. The only difference is that the car has been stood for a couple of weeks with little use so i suspect it is lubrication that is the issue but even so it is not acceptable.

I'll have a look at the weekend (Heathrow terminal 5 permitting that is)
 
Bailey's are probably the most common dump valve out there. Reading Dave Walker's thing in PPC, looks like they had a 100% rep for reliability and then duff ones started turning up. Could have just been a bad batch: I'd think it's probably more to do with manufacturing tolerances or material changes than lubrication issues (I mean, strictly speaking, the thing isn't supposed to be lubricated).

But get in touch with Bailey and I'm sure they'll see you right (and if their BOVs are going wrong, they need to be told).
