Hi guys,

I've just purchased a nice new 4 channel amp for my Bravo! Now im just figuring out how to wire it to the battery.

I have done amp installs before and know exactly what i have to do, what wires are needed, etc.

However, i've never done one on a Bravo. I was wondering if anyone knows where the rubber gromit is, in the engine bay, so that i can get a wire from inside the car onto the battery.

If that makes sence.

I've had a look but cant find it anywhere.

Cheers

If you get "in" the passenger footwell and rip the carpet up from the bulkhead, you will be able to see the rubber grommit if you lay down on your back and "look up".

It's a right pain in the bum :)

Pull back the carpet from the top of the passeger footwell. Half way down you will see a grommet the size of a tennis ball.
If you have a 1.2 no problem. If you have a HGT - good luck getting the wire out of the other side in the engine bay. Get some elastoplast before you start as you are bound to scrape all of your knockles doing it. Probably dislocate a couple of joint down your arm too to put your arm in impossible places to get hold of it.
Best o luck :)

The HGT is an absolute biatch to do!

i have run mine under the car instead and up through the panel for the fuel pump... alot easier, esp after spending a couple of hours trying to get through the bloody gromit!

:O

under the car! crazy!

good job mines only a 1.2

wish it was the hgt tho! :p

oh i dunno, having had a 1.2 for 4 years theres alot to be said for the little engine and the car, supprised alot of people (even had HGT drivers comment how quick i was up to 100 on the way to silverstone for trax a few years ago)

little tip from me, use a wire coat hanger and un wrap it. if your sutting through the gromit, be careful and do it as close to the edge as possible, the feed the coat hanger through, then you can pull the power wire back through

WOAH!! Isn't there one behind the dash/glovebox that comes out near the windscreen wiper motors?

I'm 95% sure there was, as after running amps and nitrous hoses etc in my old bravo someone mentioned there was one behind the dash/glovebox on the passenger side up in the top right corner of the engine bay as you look at it with the bonnet up.

I am planning on running mine through there next time so I REALLY hope it's there (damn my useless memory) and it should be much easier to go through.

(Just realised my membership ran out yesterday so can't edit!)

Also the grommet/bung isn't used for any other wiring so you can punch a hole in the middle of it for amp power. The one under the carpet you have to hack at the side of as it has a whole wiring loom running through it.

(Paypal payment to Wimmy made :))

When we put the amp wiring in Tommy's car, we used the one that Wimmy was on about in the footwell, and it went relatively easily :)

thanks for all the help guys.

much appreciated!

also... just quickly.... anyone got any good suggestions for some decent 5" component speakers?

i've got about £30 quid to spend includign postage. im not to fussed about them, as i have vibe QB69's in the back.

but if anyone's got any good tips. they will be for the doors of my bravo.
