Hey guys :)

I have an 1.6 Marea weekend and have been thinking...Lancia Lybra shares the same engine with Mareas and have the fancy radio wich acts as an onboard computer.

Punto mk2 shares some engines with Marea too, ie the 1.2 petrol with 80bhp, and it has also an onbard(trip) computer wich reads the fuel consuption.

Is it possibible to connect a Punto mk2 onboard computer to the ecu and read the fuel consuption? Or even a Lybra's radio?

The ECU is probably the same for the lybra/marea/156, and the fuel consuption is likely possble to be read from OBD in Marea so...

Can it be done? It would be a hell of a mod to be able to have the Lybra's radio in the Marea. (not with the stock radio frame...but using the dislplay and all the buttons on a custom frame)

What do you guys think?

Cheers

These are new ideas to me. As here in the UK we never got the 1.2 Marea or any of the more recent Lancias so have never seen a Lybra nevermind it's radio.

Here in Portugal 1.2s are very comon :)

The lybra has two versions of the radio, the one above wich has radio and trip computer , and the top one wich features GPS a some other goodies:

The internals of this radio are very alike with the sat navs featured on the Alfa 147 and Stilo.

Thing is, for the 1.6 litre versions(Marea,Lybra,147,Stilo), the ecu is suposed to be the same so the connection to get the information should be the same. There is probably some cables on the lybra/Stilo/147 that doesn't exist on the marea, but they should be "portable" from one to the other :p

About the punto, you have mk2 puntos there right? A trip computer like the one on the Punto would fit nicely on the dashboard of the marea, as it is very slick and could be next to the warning lights.

Just having fuel consuption and average would be a nice upgrade :)

What do you think?

To be honest neither option looks like an easy fix. But the Lancia radio remounted in a Marea dash could be very interesting.

Indeed :)

I think tough that pluging a stilo / Punto trip computer to the ECU would be quite simple if someone could take a peek at a similar engine Stilo/Lybra. If the ECU is the same, then the plug must be there :p

just checked auto data for you.

the Lybra 2.0 shares the same Motronic ME3.1 ECU with the Marea 155/150 (not the 147).

so yes, you should be able to put the Lybra radio in the Marea and have the features.

the Punto Mk2 has a webber ECU where as the Marea 1.2 (which i'd never heard of until now!) has a Motronic M1.5.5 so wont be compatable.

Thanks for the info! :)

What about a 1.6 on the mk2 punto? was there any version? If there were...is the ECU equal?

Can you see what type of plug is used on the lybra in order for the radio to work? Also, is the GPS antenna on the lybra on the radio itselft or located in the car?

It would make a kickass mod :)

sorry, i lied.

just checked autodata again and the punto Mk2 1.2 16v engine does use the M1.5.5 ECU.

i looked at the wrong engine before.

i'm afriad i cant help with the other information you are looking for, sorry.

Unfortunately not main Marea.
