Okay, my Connect Nav+ unit works fine, no issues at all. Then yesterday it stopped turning off on the key.

The menu option is set correctly to turn off with ignition, but it has stopped doing this. I had a look in the service menu to see if there where any red outed bits. There aren't, but I dod notice that two lines of text in the menu have gone from being letters and numbers to being random symbols.

Is there a reset procedure for Connect Nav that doesn't lose the radio coding (Disconnecting battery maybe)

The car had a little welding done yesterday on an exhaust mount, the firm that did it connected a huge great cable thingy from positive to negative on battery that the chap said stopped the need to disconnect the battery.

The radio turned on with the key when they had finished, I drove home, it turned off on the key, turned it on today and I had to turn it on manually, and off again when I stopped the car. There are no error screens on the dash or the Connect Nav unit.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Andy

Providing the CN is either the original one fitted to the car or a replacement one that has been fitted with it's Master Code, then the code will be stored in the Body Computer and will not need to be re-entered after disconnecting the battery.

If it's a retro-fit CN that was fitted without a Master Code by installing software version 9.8, then that software will need to be re-installed after reconnecting the battery.

This problem went away all by itself, but I had need to remove the stereo yesterday to get at wiring which lives behind it. Now the problem is back. Now, with the stereo out of the cage, the syatem works just fine, but when I pout the radio back into the cage in the dash, any button press along the left hand side causes it to restart, but it won;t turn off on the key, and the illumination lights stay on constantly!

Any ideas?

If the problem only occurs when the CN+ is in the cradle, it would suggest a fault with the wiring or plugs/sockets that connect it.

If you know someone with another unit and temporarily swap them, you could tell whether it's the car's wiring/plugs or the CN+ sockets at fault.

If you're anywhere near SE London/NW Kent, I have 2 spare CN+ units we could try.

Dave.

Had another look today, now the unit is working just fine in its cradle, all buttons working fine, but the thing will not fully power down.

Last time it happened, I left it for a few days and it sorted itself out. I stuck a multimeter on the wiring at the back of the unit. The wiring is all fine and dandy. I ahve a reversing camera fitted and a rear view mirror TFT screen which powers up off of the blue switched feed behind the radio, hence the need to pull the radio. That switches on and off fine.

Will leave it a few days and hope it works out.

I also have a spare CN+ unit, have'nt tried it though as pulling all the existing cables out of my units would be a total PITA!
