im ordering the software too as i keep paying £20.00 for other people to read and delete codes. ive got a laptop with 4hr battery life so should be fine.

I have a laptop which was covered in a mug of sweet coffee a few days ago :( . Lets hope the shop says its a write off or else the insurance won't pay!

Software disc arrived, had loads of stuff on it but I'm still trying to get the FIAT examiner program off eMule and throw it on an old laptop i have kicking around . . .

As for the cable, been a bit of an issue regarding this and may just go buy another!

How crap is it not having a computer!

Stilosporting, got the cable this morning but don't think it's the right one - if it goes on the connector on the body computer then i can't see it fitting! If there's another connector somewhere it may go in ok.

If someone could confirm where the OBD connector is itd be much appreciated!

The OBD connector is behind the fusebox in the car, next to your right knee if you sit in the drivers seat - isn't it? Or is that the Ulysse, I can never remember :chin:

Take off this cover, and it is upwards.....

I think you're referring to the one on the body computer, which means I've got the wrong cable, damn damn damn

ive got the right cables (have tried them in the car an they fit, its in with the fuse box) and the right software but no serial port on my laptop :bang: anyone interested?

Sounds like you've got the correct one Rrope. Don't let the angles on the connector worry you. Take a deep breath and push it in confidently. (Think of your first time):)

If the OBD2 connector looks like this then that's the one

If you haven't got a serial port stilosporting then you need the usb interface. Just tell the seller your problem and they'll often exchange them

yes that looks like that'll do you (provided you have a laptop serial port) . The "strange box" is the interface which you must have so your laptop doesn't connect directly to the car's computer otherwise horrible things would happen but is able to read and write data from the ecu to your laptop

Try to think of it as man and woman and a condom. The interface is your condom. It allows communication without direct contact:)
