General  Comfortmatic sensor

General  Comfortmatic sensor

I havent been able to get out and test run the vehicle as to my health issues, but just want to ask a question, IF the auto side of the gearbox is playing up, as it is, then will the same error/s come up if it is put into manual mode and I change gears myself?
I suspect it might still play up as it may use same sensor to ascertain which gear is commanded and which gear it is in?! If not, then it'll be great to be able to drive it without the heart dropping worries when the warning chimes goes off!

In manual mode, it is the driver who decides when gears shall be changed, instead of the control unit (it will still make some shifts automatically, though).
But the pump, pressure accumulator, actuators, valves, sensors, pipes, connectors, wiring, etc still have to be error-free.
So no, I don’t think that is a workaround.

Still bedridden but I had another thought, this might be a clue but only you can tell me, my driveway is on an incline, and the road is on a decline, whenever I've used my Ducato I always reverse up onto driveway, from the position it needs to move from, and it being 4.5ton, and full lock on steering, it does struggle somewhat and most of the time there is a 'really bad stink' (clutch burning?) which kind of smells like a dead rat, I now suspect this could be some sort of clutch alignment issue? Would this cause the other issues?
Just trying to eliminate any/every possibility.

Hi, get well wishes.

No that's just very hot clutch smell from manovering slowly and awkwardly causing the clutch to be partially engaged.

J

No, no further changes. Is it a safe thing to do to run through all the gearbox adaptations in the MES menu? I've not run most of them as I have no info if I should just in case it upsets things.

Just to be clear, Other than production final and self calibration, I've not run anything else. Still get the 'Not Performed' after that calibration process ends but I understand that this may be a normal reading, which I'm still unsure about.

That's enough then. Stop worrying about the self calibration you have done it .

Ok, again had another thought ( yeah I'm on a role with two thoughts in as many months lol), ref the error as read by MES P0919 - Selection and engagement position sensor.

I now see on a diagram that the 'Selection' and 'engagement' sensor can be either one of two, or both the sensors? I'm a little Confused.
Previously I've removed and tested the one vertically mounted facing you when looking at bulkhead, however I've not seen or dealt with the other one. Anyone removed this sensor? How to get to it please? And should I be looking at that one?
Thanks

Sorry can't follow the above.
Are you stating the selection and engagement sensor is actually 2 different sensors and you found a diagram backing that up?

Well as far as I can tell there are two (labeled as 1 and 2) , I don't know which one of the sensors this error code applies too.

I suppose this method could help to diagnose which one is faulty, but saying that, MES could still come back with same code as it states 'Selection' and 'Engagement' sensor, which seems to cover both with same error code and doesn't differentiate between them if you see what I mean.
Also I've noted it seems to occur after some miles (approx <26 miles), parked up for couple hours then fault occurs usually on my return journey.

Bearing in mind I've removed and tested the one marked 1, but my own physical limitations at the moment won't allow me to look for and remove the other one (2), that I can't see.
Please excuse my detailed write ups as I believe it is useful to detail things which may help us all.

Your posts are fine (-:
The fault could be with wiring and or connectors in comfortmatic loom.

I was hoping testing each sensor separately may give different code for each sensor-just a thought it may not.
There may be 2 more digits after p#### which possibly could help

I found the instruction for one of them in my PC. Is this the one you have located already? The other one shouldn’t be far away. I think that instruction is 2127E42.
Also found a doc about the wiring.

I hope these docs matches your model.
