Hi all,

Heres my progree blog of my work in progress

Bought it in May,




then after a good service and wash/polish



then after i done tints...



and carbon fibre effect badges



then alloys



cc'd wing mirrors

hopefully be getting a few bits n piece to make it look like this soon

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, sure I could just do it black, but theres loads of cars out there with black roofs. Ive seen 1 car with a line of the space invader aliens, running from front of bonnet to back of roof, looked good!
 
Bit the bullet and done the roof today. Ordered the vinyl graphics last week and they came this morning, so a few hours this afternoon got it done.





Didnt want to take off spoiler, so done a 2 - tone paint job...


Think it looks ok, just need to wait til morning to see how it looks.

If I end up not liking it down the line, I'll just respray it all black, but for now I'm happy with it.
 
Bumpers will be done, was asking guys in paintshop about the plastic primer, didnt wanna do it then have it chip off, but he assured me it wouldnt do that.

Be a few weeks anyway, insurance & tax need paying this week...☹

The vinyl came with all aliens spaced and lined up, but the rest was all mixed up. The bunkers where stacked vertically, so needed to lay down a line of masking tape then space each one out, then get them roughly in place see what they looked like. Once there stuck there's no way to get them off without wrecking them.

Here is a link to the ebay item, I got the medium, its 100cm x 61cm, there is 2 on each side that needed to be tucked under the roof rubber things, but not too noticable.

You probably can get some print shops to print it out as 1 big vinyl, but id say it would cost alot more.

The lacquer should protect the vinyl, should stop it from lifting too.

Wet sanded it today to remove some orange peel, was also a nice fly in the middle of it, got him out thankfully. Then it got really warm as the sun came out, had to stop as the G3 was drying out to fast before it could get broken down to polish it, so will have another go at it on a cooler day.

Really more orange peel? The laqure must need thinning out as the sprayer must be spraying right otherwise the colour coat would be crap too.
 
Black was done with rattle cans, as I already had them from a while back. Really not sure why the orange peel keeps happening. Ive added a water filter & regulator to the line as I was told thats why it happened the last time, but result is just the same.

Gonna go to scrap yard and get a descent size panel, maybe a front wing or something, then keep adjusting the gun / regulator til the orange peel stops. Gun was on the same settings as when I done my alloys, and there isnt 1 bit of orange peel on them..

Got it rebuffed this evening with the G3, thankfully its not as bad as it was...
