Hi and thanks for all the advice,I don't have any knowledge of scanning codes or access to any sort of code reader,so would have to take it to a garage, which I really can't afford right now,is there anything that could cause a misfire that I will be able to check/eliminate myself, without taking my engine/electrics apart or plugging a computer into it,bearing in mind that I'm not a mechanic? The exhaust baffle material has started coming out of the exhaust, looks like my engine sucked in a wig! could that have anything to do with it??

Hi,

have you had ANY warning lights show..??,

material coming through exhaust is a bit odd..!! not too sure it will cause a misfire though,
are you 100% sure the correct leads are going to the correct cylinders ?,

where are you based?, can you get one of your "knowledgable friends" to read the codes for you as a favour - takes approx 5 mins if you take the car to them and open the fusebox cover by your knee,

am in Newcastle, yes am sure about the leads I marked them before changing them, could possibly get my uncle to read codes but I don't want to drive it,I already drove it home from work after the misfire started, about 2/3 miles

thanks, what would sparks be a sign of? and what would the remedy be??

Blue flashes are a High Tension (high voltage) leak (generally from the plug leads) -- replace plug leads (sometimes spraying with WD40 will effect a temporary cure). Yellow flashes a low tension leak -- a bad connection elsewhere.

Remove as much of the air filter housing as you can to get a clear view.

will try that tonight but i already changed the ht leads, plugs and coil packs,so i think it must be something else, but what???
