I’m putting the original Blaupunk stereo back into my panda (took it out and had Pioneer for a while) it said “code error” I’ve tried disconnecting the battery but it’s still the same. Any advice please?

The first thing that comes to my mind is the radio has a security code. It should be in the car papers, somewhere by the owner's manual. Until you put the correct one you won't be able to use it.
I have the stereo code but nothing but error code odd displayed giving no option to enter the code. It’s does nothing at all.

Try:
Press one of the first four preset buttons. The display should show “0000”. After “0000” is displayed, enter the security code using the first four station preset buttons.

If you mess up it will probably lock you out from entering another code for a few minutes (mess up again and it will extend the lock out period)

It didn’t even get to the point where a code can be entered. I switch it on it says Fiat and then code error nothing else, no option or way to enter the code at all, no buttons do anything, nothing is operational.

OK, try this:

Turn radio on

Press and hold for 2-3 minutes the #1 button of the preset buttons, "0000" should appear in the radio display.

Once "0000" is displayed, enter the security code using the first four station preset buttons. Use button 1 to set the first digit of the four-digit code, button2 to set the second, etc. Press each button the number of times needed to enter that digit.
(4) Finally, press station preset button 5. Now the radio frequency will appear in the display and the radio is ready for operation.

Note: Entering the security code must be done within 1 minute of the 0000 appearing.

PS: If still no response it may be in lock out , in which case you have to leave it for sometimes 24 hours (connected to the car still)

Thanks, have tried this without success I’m afraid. The stereo has been back in the car connected for a week now and it’s still not operational. I’m at a loss, it’s very confusing as it worked fully before removing it to replace with a Bluetooth pioneer, they want great, hence trying to put the original back in.

You could try contacting the mod Davren to see if he can help , but I'm gonna look to see if there's another button to exit this mode and re-enter the 'code' screen

Thank you I really appreciate it.

Ive had one that required me to piush buttons I wasnt expecting rather than the ones I would have expected (like the four on the left). Pushing the wrong ones meant I was entering the wrong code. Checkin the manual you are pressing the correct buttons to get the digitd entered right. Then the delays can escalate so you have to leave the thing turned on for a long time to get back to start again. I think it doubles the wait time after each attempt until its hundreds of hours potentially. Leave it switched on with the ignition on MAR position until it releases the wait error. Ive had to leave a car for over 48 hpurs before. Thankfully it was in the back of a garage over nights.

It don’t get to the point where I can enter the code, I have the right code from my Fiat handbook but no buttons work so I can’t even enter it, it’s totally inoperable.

It was from back in the day when head units got stolen for fun, and Blaupunkt (for one) made life difficult (quite rightly) for the new "owner"

The head unit usually said "SAFE" when you'd attempted the wrong code (during the lock out period), and it might be on this head unit it says "code error" instead.. (which means it's in SAFE lockout)
But I seem to remember you had to have the power on to get the lock out timer to count out its time....... or at least just ignore it whilst driiving the car as usual, whilst the lockout eventually times out and brings you back to CODE or 0000 screen.

I seem to remember on some they eventually locked you out good and proper with "Dealer" displayed

What model and age is your Panda? Those with Blue&ME or the later uConnect radios don't have a radio code as such. Instead there are linked to the car's main control computer (the Body Control Module or BCM) which cross-references the chassis number of the car and the serial number of the radio that was installed at the factory. Are you putting back in the exact factory-fitted radio that was previously removed, or another that looks the same? if the latter, that will not work.

Edit:
Looking again - you say it's a Blaupunkt radio you're putting back in. That is unlikely to the the Fiat factory-fit radio (as, so far as I know) the originals were not made by Blaupunkt (they're often labelled 'Continental', as in the tyre company, on a sticker on the top of the metal case, but no brand shown on the front). Can you post a photo of the radio you are putting back in?

With a non-original radio, most older ones use a code to lock them. If you put the wrong code in a couple of times it will 'lock out' for, initially, a minute before you can try again. then for two, five, 30 minutes etc, up to a max of 48 hrs... maybe thats why you can't enter a code? (It remembers these even if the power is disconnected, so unplugging won't help)
