Just doing my annual maintenance and noticed this error on Multiecuscan. Car seems to run OK with the normal twin cylinder sounds. I have cleared the code and will see if it comes back. If it does where is the sensor located on the block?

The knock sensor is above the starter, next to the alternator. For a better clarity and comprehension, the component is shown without other interfering parts.

Carry out the disassembly procedure from the engine compartment.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the detonation sensor.

KNOCK SENSOR

See K050 DETONATION SENSOR
2. Undo the fixing screw (2a) and remove the knock sensor (2b) from its housing.

From elearn, so somewhere on the back of the block.

OK so ordered the sensor and went to fit it today. There is no access from above as assume the bit on the back of the engine being the multi air is in the way and after getting it up in the air there is no access from below without removing the starter motor and possibly the alternator to get at the starter motor bolts.
Not a job I can do on stands laying underneath, plus it looks like the cam chain cover is leaking oil too. Going to see how much Jamie Porter at Royston would want to do the job. 🤬

Hello,
Please let me know where you found that knock sensor & what are the other components to be removed to access to it.
If you can give some pictures or videos for the location, it will much appreciated & thank you

In the end I found it impossible to get to without a lift to get the car to an easier height to work on. The sensor is on the back of the block and hard to get to. Think you could possibly do it from the r/h side wheel arch but you definitely need to get the alternator off for access, even then it's tight. Our error hasn't come back since I cleared it so might have poor fuel.
