Technical clutch/gearbox help

I have just put a new gearbox and clutch in my fiat punto (X reg) I can select any gear without having to use the clutch and it does not move please can you help me ??

Sounds like the clutch release mechanism is installed wrongly, so the clutch is always disengaged. First of all though, find someone to press the clutch pedal whilst you look at the external linkage. Worth checking this works properly before going to the hassle of taking the box off.

I agree with mike. Sound like you installed the clutch release mechanism wrongly, so the throwout bearing is pressing against the spring by default. Try releasing the rod that goes through the lever arm that disengages the clutch. Releasing the rod should allow the push out bearing to move back off the spring and will put the pressure back on your clutch assembly. After you remove it, see if the clutch is engaged by default if not then I am afraid the clutch itself is installed wrongly.
