Hi

I am trying to source an automatic gearbox sump for the wife's 2003 Fiat Punto Dynamic Speedgear but without success. Breakers yard/parts searches are drawing blanks - can anyone offer any advice?

Cheers

That's what I'm thinking - guess it depends just how bad the damage is. I'll get back to the mechanic, tell him we can't source a replacement part and see what he can do. The wife has attachment issues to that car which, to be fair, has had few issues over the 20+ years and has been running well. It recently had a new cam belt and alternator so be a shame to throw in the towel! Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.

That would be perfect. Frustratingly I can't find that user on Ebay to make contact. I've searched but nothing appears.

So, unfortunately no response whatsoever from the Ebay seller. After a parts search the only option is a full gearbox priced over £300 - this was the only quote received. The mechanic says the sump is 'not really repairable as the leak is by the holding bracket'. I would have thought that was better than a leak elsewhere?!

Whilst not ideal £300 for spare gearbox for parts to get car working is not bad . Your wife likes car, mechanic probably needs it out of his/her space.

Perhaps you should check for a possibility to weld the housing? However it might not be cheap, as the gearbox would need to be stripped and then reassembled.
Hi,
Its just the pressed steel sump on bottom of Gear box. It can be unbolted and removed quite easily.
The mechanic doesn't want to get involved with a repair. maybe due to time taken to get repair done elsewhere leading to being stuck with vehicle in / around workspace.

Best wishes
Jack
