Technical Clutch cable changeover and loss of power steering

Ok. So clutch cable snapped yesterday. Got the car back from the garage today after having it replaced and within an hour of driving, the power steering went and the warning light came on at the dashboard.

Could this be related? Any advice on whats wrong and how much to get fixed?

Seems unlikely, but almost anything is possible. First step is to check the fuses. I think the power steering is one of the maxi fuses behind the battery.

If the speed sensor wiring has been disturbed during the clutch cable replacement, then it is possible.

Check that the wirring is plugged in to the speed sensor.

Apropos the above -- you're looking for a 3 pin connector off the differential. Check nothing is disconnected, snapped, etc.

The other likely cause is a fault in the charging circuit, but on the MPI cars this usually flags an error on the speedo itself.

The power steering ECU can be interrogated -- perhaps by a code reader, certainly by a FIAT dealer.
