OK , so my Punto has the poverty spec clocks..ie speedo and fuel gauge..can I put the speedo and temp clocks into mine without any alterations, or is it a no go?
hate having to rely on a light to tell my when IT thinks the car is running hot!!!
Plus I think they loo better :D

Hi,

Yes you can upgrade the clocks to a higher spec version, but there are a couple of caveats...

- You need to make sure they are from the same type of punto. Ie you cant fit Mk2b clocks in a Mk2 punto (without extensive modification anyway)

- The mileage on the new clocks should be LOWER than the actually mileage on your car to make matching the mileage easier.

- The new clocks will normally require "proxy alignment" which will enable them to talk to the car correctly and set your correct millage from the BCU. I believe this can be done with Multi ECU Scan.

- Try and avoid clocks out of HGT or diesel models that have extra warning lights.

If Ive missed anything Im sure someone will add to what ive said (y)

best to try and find clocks from an active go or an active sporting only would be my add on advice
yes fiatecuscan will set the mileage correctly if you understand a1ant's advice however i don't know if the free version would do it
Ive successfully changed clocks and the lcd display didnt flash so no proxy required
you wont break anything if you try and you can always put your own clock back in if you wish if it does

i tried and failed getting mk2b to work in a mk2

Cool!!!

mileage shouldn't be a problem...just make a note of both mileages and come MOT time, show the tester...
and the clocks I had my eye on were from a 2b :(
Oh well...least i know they SHOULD fit!!
