I don't tend to believe stereotypes and always come to my own conclusions, but true to form, Stiloboy, Donz and Scorg have all proved to be tightwads!

That's 3 of you out of the 4 that I've spoken with on here, 75%, so the Southern perception is correct ???

So I ask a question about the price of fittings due to other people saying they got it for such a price and I get chucked into the stereotype, FFS, lets just put an end to this now before the place turns into anarchy

You taking this all too seriously Scorg!

Well ok, maybe a bit OTT in what I meant. But I said that as ive seen alot of threads, be it on other forums that have turned into right mudslinging.
Just dont want things turning nasty thats all :)

Re: Anarchy ???

Well its gonna be a few weeks 'till i get the wheels, i've got a service looming next week, so the tyres will need to wait until next year anyway, whats the point in fitting fat tyres that won't handle as well on snow/ice/slush and have the wheels covered in grit and salt for weeks on end 'cos its too cold to wash the car properly.

Oh and i've got two other cars to MOT, oh and Christmas round the corner, then there will be possibly finding a new home, paying for a solicitor and trying to keep it all together at work.

What a fun time i'm having....

It means......

Stop being boring and wack those beautiful rims on you stilo :bang:

I see what you are saying about going from 175 to 185 or from 195 to 215, but in my experience wider tyres are great when it's dry, but a pain in the arse when it's wet. The added area of contact with the road is just what you need when it's dry, but the problem is adhesion in the wet is largely created by weight and the larger contact area means you have less poundage per square inch weight between the tyre and the road. Obviously other factors still play a part in the wet, but the biggest problem is less friction which is the purpose of wider tyres. You would think that the wider tyres would counteract the reduced friction of the wet surface and, to some extent they will, but it is a question of getting the right balance between friction and surface contact pressure. Spoilers can help with downforce to dissipate the reduced pressure, but this only really helps at higher speeds and again only with spoilers that are designed to produce downforce rather than spoilers that are designed either for areodynamics or purely aesthetics.

Which is why i'm keeping the skinny steelies on until the ****e weather is passed. :)

That and the fact i don't have hundred of quid for 4 tyres when the 4 on the car have plenty of life.

I apparently owe the wife £20k, so i won't be spending much cash this Christmas, Bah Humbug! :(
