cis insurance possible problem....

I am a little concerned about this, I saw it on teletext this morning and thinking of it, I have never noticeed any d/d being taken out of my account

technically yes you are in breach of the road traffic act, however, it appears that if any of CIS's customers do on the off chance get processed, they will do the right thing and correspond with police and cps to put the situation right.

Indeed, but what constitutes 'having insurance'? They had a certificate - only thing they hadn't done was pay money..

Having had a very (too) close brush with a charge of driving without insurance, due to an insurance company error - it's a matter still quite close to my heart.

i would imagine, in these circs too something similair may arise

youve taken the insurance, received the certificate, and arranged for payment by card/direct debit, and thought nothing more.

cis do not take the payment, now again, another technicality, service procured without payment

as a result, cis do not process the schedule, and send a message to the central register to say there is no insurance on the vehicle in question

you get stopped, a check is done, and you are processed for no insurance, quite rightly i may add because of the information available to the officer, who also issues a producer (HORT/1).

on the ticket there is an appeal process, you follow it, and at the magistrates hearing make you mitigation, with hopefully a letter from CIS to back up the reason why you "dont have cover", or will allow time for you to obtain it.

it is labourious, and unfortunatly actually producing the dox at roadside may not be enough to avoid the hassle there and then of receiving the ticket, all i can say is, the officer roadside can only act on what they can see and the info available, there is a degree of discretion, but that is their decision, not the motorists (one day i'll tell you the story!). it would have been better if the third party (cis) had got it right, in the first place.

The exact same thing happened to me when I renewed my car insurance last Dec I contacted Zurich and paid them with by Barclay card over the phone only to recieve a letter two weeks later to say that my insurance had expired and they had even sent me the new policy as well  wont be renewing with them this Dec going with Adrian flux had a quote and £150 cheaper with all my mods and conviction/s one pending :(

phil, what on earth did you do to get a ticket? btw this is not meant to be sarcastic or insensistive, i'm a little shocked you have one

Sorry to be a disappointment to you Jai:eek: my first one was TS10 in 04 I had severe back pain when braking for a red light and couldn't stop and went through it :( I have a degenerating spine didn't know that at the time I DO NOW THOUGH :bang: and I was caught doing 88mph on the 6th Sept while taking the wife for a day out to the beach didn't realise I was even doing that speed its so easy when your chatting and trying to concentrate on your driving so there you have it a sad tail after driving all these years with no convictions suppose its inevitable that every one will get caught by a camera sooner or later :)

its by luck ive not had something this far.we all make mistakes and have those "****,i wasnt paying attention" moments.
how many times do you see some numbnut do a dodgy manoevere and wish the police were around.
EG saw a guy today in a fiesta turn right at a set of lights at a rate of knots and barely miss a bus at a stop just off the junction.
never slowed down after that though
