cheap dash cam?

Well mine arrived today (er indoors collected it) and boy is it small.

The power lead (cig lighter one) is about 10 foot long, USB one about 2 foot.

No idea if it will fit anywhere as I had to leave the car at the garage as they have dinted the bonnet :(

I currently have one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HD-2-5-Ca...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35beba5631

I paid about £25 at first

And its Okay for £25, however its last about 6months before issues started again

Battery wasn't charging - So a £3 battery (nokia btw) - it worked again, but still wouldnt charge
The charger had blown so it was killing the battery, the combination of the 2 unfortunatly what killed the camera

Atm im running it with my TomTom mini Usb cable, as that works fine
But its getting to point it often crashs when ignition off or while its recording

Lags badly between recordings when cards full too

But would i buy it again
yes i would
Why? Typically i've got another charger on the way
And a spare battery if i buy another

Worth it?
yes

I'll try and compose a lil video for you of some action i've caught

Ziggy

What SD card do you use?

Well, despite the camera bit being OK the bracket is pure crap.
First one side broke and now the whole bracket has fallen to pieces.

I suspect a manufacturing fault.

Nothing to do with it falling off the window the day I got it.

Looks like I need to source a new bracket now.

Around the £50 mark BUT a huge plus is the ability to use this as a reversing cam as well. Setup the front cam with the image on the screen, change the screen to show the rear cam, adjust the angles etc & leave the screen showing just the rear.
Slap in a huge SD card (which are cheap as chips these days) and you get the image from front and rear recorded.
The ideal investment I would have thought?
And this guy seems to think the recorded images are to the usual standard.

Forgot to add, he complains about the brightness of the LEDs, reckon a bit of micropore or masking tape will sort that out?
I like the way this thing doesn't utilise the normal (telltale) window suckers. My current cam is mounted to the over window shelf so it sits back from the screen, making it harder to spot from the outsde.

Maplin have these one an extremely good offer ATM. £50, previously £250 about 12/18months ago.

I got the OH one of those a while back - it's a T-eye with a fancy shell.
The trouble with these is the recording quality isn't fantastic - good enough but not great to zoom in etc. Also, the second cam only sees the occupants whereas the one I linked to has the second cam in the back window. The recording quality is far better of both cams than the maplin unit.
