Yeah, apperntly the board is compatible with 800Mhz, just not compatible with the stuff you bought by the sounds of it. (y)

Ahhh, you need CL6 like the code, you got CL5. Thats why by the looks of it. :)

will it run both new an old at same time? if not i may as well just send it back an get her 2 gig of what fits hers

Dave are you replacing the 2 x 1g with the new 2x 2g or adding too!

Does your amd motherboard have 4 dimm slots ?

if your original 2x 1g worked and you replaced them with what seems to be the same type and speed and its not booting try one of each old and new to get 3g in total. some amd bords don't like more than 3.5 g and start throwing a wobbler.:)

I'd throw a wobbler if 4 things were shoved in my slots too. :p

Is that PC quiet btw Dave? Kinda fancying one for myself. :chin:

its your operating system and motherboard that control the maximum of ram.

try one stick of new and one of old to get 3 gs if that posts then its more likely that the motherboard or operating system doesn't want to play ball.

why the 4 g any how unless you are doing some serious video editing 2gs is plenty.

Also are you running the 2 gs in dual channel!

Yeah, Chris is right, must be unhappy cos of 4Gb, cos it's the same ****ing memory! :ROFLMAO:

or it's dodgy... :chin:

just put in one new stick of the 2g xms corsair.

it should definately post with that in if not send it back.

i go try 3 then, so if its not dodgy i should be able to have 3 in each pc?

3 in yours yes ,but doesn't state wether the new pc your missus bought is
ddr2 800 speed ram, just that it has 512mb of something.

her motherboard has to be the same type ddr2 and speed to be able to run with the new ram.

if you are able to run your original 2gs in dual channel then the benefits of 3gs in single channel ( which most amd boards will default too if occupying more than 2 dimm slots) then its not really worth the upgrade.

memmory latencies (speed) is more important than max gigs

Yeah, it does take 800, a guy put 800 in it and boots fine, it's in the comments on eBuyer.

It's just if it's compatible. Acer's are a known to be fussy.
