Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) The Panda

Introduction

Name Change! Previously known as Charmania for anyone not in the know, she's had a slight rename, keeping the Char but sticking my favourite childhood Pokemon name in there, Charmander, mainly because the first time I ever encountered a Panda I was about 8 years old and Pokemon was my favourite thing in the whole world.

Some details,
1992 Fiat Panda 750 Mania
769cc FIRE engine.
Lowered 40mm.
Seicento Sporting Front Seats
Side Stripes for faster acceleration
Fiat 127 'Palio' Alloys.
Veglia Rev counter, so I can count my revs.

I washed her, wanted to take her somewhere nice for pictures but it hasn't been sunny for long enough to do that, so I'll get nicer pictures at some point....
Here she is now, Charmanda.

Sorry for the terrible lighting. Can't do much about the sun.
Just got to get lucky. Last but one oil change on Grumbleweed was a £10 W5 oil from Lidl last year, Tescos were doing theirs earlier this year for £9.99, and Home bargains had some in at the tail end of June for a tenner which like a pillock I didn't get when I saw it.

Are you speaking from experience...?

How very dare you! :p

Actually, no I haven't surprisingly - it must be quite easy to do though ;)

Like many of us, I have done assorted stupid things over the years - I try to find new & creative stupidity though! I do learn from mistakes (especially when they hurt) - if it hurts the second time I pay Vernon to do it the 3rd time....

The interval for FIRE engines in the Panda is 9,000 miles, only the 903cc engine needs to be changed at 6,000. Still, no harm in doing it now, especially if you are doing short journeys all the time.

Not according to the handbook for the earlier carbed mk2's, 99% sure its 6,000 miles.

My bad! checked the front of the Haynes:eek: Do so few miles I finish up changing it about every 2 or 3k now as that's a years worth.

Wish I had your book! In my book you could do 2 oil changes including filters for that!

 what can i say, bit of a snob when it comes to this stuff, i even went as far as getting the same brand air filter, oil and oil filter as alfa chose to fit in the factory last time. Even then there was alot more expensive stuff out there i could have bought.

The handbook from my Sisley says 9,000 miles.

It would make sense as 9000 miles since its a FIRE engine and the 1368cc in my Punto was 9000 miles, I think the other 8v FIRE engines are all 9000 miles. Why should it be any different?
I'm going to change the oil when the oil and filter arrives (after I buy it, after payday on Friday) since it makes sense too, as Mr Panda Face pointed out, I'd rather do it now when its warm than in a few more months when its cold (y)
